If fergies plan was to buy a load of wingers and give them the team of smallest forwards of any premiership team to aim at, well by jove, he's done it!

Asked if berba to Psg fergie said. 'yes he might. that's possible'

I guess it makes sense if you think your team is big and ugly enough to play without throwing Chris smelling up front in an emergency. or if you fancy that your wingers are as incapable of crossing the ball as say, park, obertan, valencia are.

Dear God.

You are aware we won the League and reached the CL final last season arent you?

"Chris Smelling"? I assume thats another player that you dont like/rate that is actually really good.

We've also signed Chris Smiling as well, he doesn't rate him either

2. The interview sounded like Fergie did not understand what she was saying, as she was French.

REALLY!!!

Im not so sure at all

Plus there has been more than enough time for Fergie to come out and state that if this really was the case but he hasnt

(I can appreciate general speculation not being answered any of the time - but something actually started / backed up by a direct question answered by SAF himself.....I think he would have denied it by now - or said he misunderstood)

That just doesnt fly with me at all

Of course im aware that we got played off the park by barca and had no real plan b once the original plan failed that was very obvious.

Yes we won the league - but in fairness only due to other clubs really hamming it up, not our own brilliance at times. did you know this or shall we continue to point out the blindingly obvious like primary school children?

Smelling is my bad, i do like him - however T9 predictive text shows him less love.

I'll re frame the question to maybe appease you. 'if berbatov leaves - are you confident that we have tall/strong enough forwards that we won't have to throw a defender up front in a pinch?'

It is a yes or no answer.

Rooney and Welbeck are bulky enough without doubt (although Welbeck could do with a bit more, but he is still relatively young and is developing)

Same with Chicharito....but he doesnt need to bulk up so much as he could loose some of his primary weapon....pace (and movement)

Diouf - certainly bulky enough.....but still has a lot to prove, not sure he is Utd quality and could easily be sold

Admittedly Rooney had a bad season last time out - but he has proved in 09/10 he can scorre crackers with his head (and with Valencia providing them too as an FYI), and if Rooney is tall enough - any of our forwards are the crossing just has to get back to the level of 09/10

Rooney has the bulk that's a definite. he has scored a few with his head, but he isn't a prolific target man type for sure.

Wellbeck is very slight. diouff wont play. chich is a pace man good leap but that only counts if the defender is caught flat footed really.

to be fair didnt Rooney score a sizable amount more with his head in the 09-10 season than he had ever before added together?

All Im saying is he showed determination and improvement in heading, so dont knock him :)

Seems to me Welbeck has bulked up in the last season or so - he doesnt appear to be as slight as he was when he was last playing in the United team

Good news indeed. lets hope those loan periods really have prepared these guys for the first team.

My memories of wellbeck are probably a year or two out from the carling cup against wolves i think. he did score as i remember but he looked pretty.lightweight at that point.

The Interview is just pure BS.

i dont think Sir Alex understood that. Sir Alex was asked

" Can berbatov play for Paris? "

Sir alex replied back saying "Yes. He can." I'm pretty sure Sir Alex misunderstood the question. Or he just wanted to give a quick replie so he could get out of there ASAP?

If giving resoned replies to your outlandish statements is behaving like kids in a playground then theres a lot of kids in this thread.

What you are suggesting is we were lucky to win the league over 38 games yet a one-off game against the best club team in the world is a true reflection of our abilities (also ignoring the fact we got to the final).

Definitely, SAF is always really guarded on transfer talk so the notion that he would speak so openly about Berbatov is nonsense, especially to a random French TV reporter that barely spoke English.

You still haven't answered my question, what football team do you support?

Hopefully Jose Enrique will sign for the Pool, as being reported, we need some good defenders!, Newcastle are in for a hard season though IMO!.

Give over. There was no reasoned response. You know as well as i do just how desperate some of those games were, that we had to throw defenders up front on occasion as we had no big target man options.

we weren't lucky per se but i don't think im the only person who thinks that winning the league was all our own doing as opposed to other teams gifting us the chances to.get back into it and remain top.

See here even Andy ritchie agrees
