You also get to join one of the biggest clubs ever in world football up there with AC Milan, Barca and Real Madrid with a massive history. What have Man city done in the last 50 years compared to Utd?
Struck oil?

He's a better right winger than both SWP and Milner TBH.
That reminds me, how did Bale's £30m move to Inter go this summer, anyway? The guardian (quite reliable)
And ill just throw this out there to whoever mentioned a cole and dwight yorke. what happened when we were losing a cl final? Throw on plan c teddy sheringham. no he wasn't 6ft 5 but he was talklr than the others and offered a different problem to the opposition.
important saying that we don't have the same Ariel threat that we need to change the game when we are losing/playing a better team.
The first lot of players we bought eg under Hughes i will admit fit into the mercenaries category because we had no recent previous success nor ever been near the top 4 and so with our new wealth joined us over other clubs.
However now, the players we are signing now can see that we are going places. We qualified for the Champions League comfortably and even took 3rd from Arsenal. We also won the FA Cup.
There is also continued investment into the club so the players can see that this is not just a flash in the pan team. ADUG actually want to build a team and club that can compete for a long time.
tl;dr The players we are signing now aren't mercenaries and rather want to be part of something possibly history making.
I dont know.Speaking from past experience it is hard to attract the very top players to Manchester. Even with United at their peak players would rather be in London or other more glamourous European cities.
If Tevez hates Manchester why did he go to City?
Sergio Augero at Atletico Madrid has a genuine deserive to play from Manchester City ahead of the other clubs that were linked with him?
Both moved to be the highest paid players at the time.
Theres nothing wrong with that on one level and all footballers (and people in general) will move jobs for more cash but when you put a whole pile of players together with that same motivation it has the potential to lead to problems i think.

All things being equal(and ignoring the fact that I'm an Arsenal fan) I'd choose to join City and win their first title, than win Utd's 763rd. 1st is special, whatever number the next title Utd get is, just another title.
Fans will look back on a period in history when an enormous amount of cash was thrown at the club in order to achieve a set goal.
At that is exactly how I look at united as an Everton fan.
They wanted a player, say Dwight Yorke, Saha, Carrick, Rooney, Hargreaves etc they unsettled him with paper talk and threw money at it.
Lets be under no illusion that united have done the same but it doesn't seem so bad because the amount of years they have been doing it. In time once City have a stable base they will make fewer signings.
United have bought their way to the title many times. It's not like they aren't right up there for money spent. Although now they are suddenly a bit bitter that this scenario happens because city have more money.
It's not like united have continued to bring through world class young players since that period of time they keep banging on about. No instead other clubs bring them on and you throw money at the problem area.

Video going round of Fergie really ripping into Bob Cass, he was the one that published the 'take it or leave it' quotes from Fergie regarding Sneijder....
Ah what the he'll I'll link it here, you can't really hear the expletives![]()
In 100 years fans will not look back on the hero that is Nigel De Jong as being a City legend in the same way as they look back on the players from previous eras regardless of what is won.
We take players and make them better. .
A tired old bully who thinks he can use the popularity and demand for united to control the press. A complete ****. Once he goes no one will be able to get away with the way he talks to people any longer.
