Toure has only won it once and almost your entire backline hasn't played in the CL. :p

Given some of the dire stuff we served up away in Europe last year, I can't wait for what Mancini has in store.

Toure, Kompany, CLichy, Stuart Taylor(keeper, 99% sure he has), Savic, De jong, Koralov and Wayne bridge have all played in the Champions league.

As has, iirc, Dzeko, Tevez, Aguero, Silva, the other Toure, Balotelli, SWP, Weiss in terms of the rest of the squad, the few that haven't have played in Uefa with teams other than City so have more european experience.

Thats all ignoring the fact that, with so many players having played in several leagues or mostly not in the UK, a large part of the experience of UCL, is playing in different locations, different types of stadiums, different atmospheres, playing against different players who you might not be as used to.

Put another way, the team has a crapload of Euro experience, and even when you don't have much, look at Spurs, its still football, nothing more or less.

So Lukaku seems like a deal done. Not sure about it tbh, yes he can replace drogba but we didn't need that this season. He's got fantastic potential but we need midfielders not strikers atm and now we have no spare squad places left for a winger or cm... Maybe we're gonna sell/loan out someone to create space...?

His record for his age is fantastic though - even in the belgian league. We're clearly focussing on youth which is good - courtios, romeu, and lukaku so far, all top prospects, with piazon arriving midseason too. Future looks good. :)

I'm sure we'll be signing at least a central midfielder. I think this deal was done, so that in the future we don't have to spend £40 million to get him; he's one for the future and if we didn't get him now - one of the other big clubs would have.

Well, I hope you're right about getting a CM. I agree he's better value now, than if we'd waited a season but we had the advantage here that he really wanted to come to chelsea which might have helped.

Possible that kalou/anelka might be on their way to create space for a midfielder...

Yeah, I think it will be Kalou. Can't see anyone being able to afford Anelkas wages; and the teams that can won't take someone his age.

Following Fat Sam's interview with the rags this weekend - talking about the great football he's going to play with West Ham - West Ham have just announced the signing of John Carew :p

The thing about Lukaku is he's only been linked properly with Chelsea, surely other big clubs would be interested if he was all that? It's not like Chelsea have a great rep for buying potential either. :o

I don't know why people rave about players having Champions League experience. Just cause you play in it doesn't instantly mean that player is any good. Sure there are plenty of crap players who play in it.

tevez for Sneijder + a bit of cash ie inter pay cash, not city. Its not that far fetched of an idea.
Sorry yeh i read it wrong.

Any deal involving any swap deal will have to include money.
Unless reports are true and we have just bought Sneijder out right. Tevez to go there on loan for 6 months where he decides if he/Joorabchian want to stay and a pre set fee is triggered or he goes to Corinthians.

Obertan to Newcastle seems to be gathering pace.

Good ability. The heart of a Wizard of Oz character.

A good signing for Newcastle as they have no strikers. In his time at United he never managed to pick one out with either a pass or a cross.
