LOL!

This has gone too far now. I want to see our police using rubber bullets, tear gas, water cannons and tasers. These are not protests, they're riots. Watching the police attempting to 'kettle' them is frankly pathetic and embarrasing. I can't see the police using force ever again though from fear of being critisized and punished. What a crap situation.

The army would face the same legal constraints as the police.

True - but they'd be more inclined to go as far as they can within those constraints. You'd likely get a much more agressive result from an infantry battalion vs TSG. Given that the Army's recent experience of civil disorder is Basrah (and we used the larger caliber batton rounds there compared with NI) it wouldn't likely be a soft softy approach. Still its not clear that that would be required just yet...

Umm..really?..I cant tell you living in Belfast for 30 years seeing the worst of the riots in the 80's 90's that the tactics used by the then RUC/UDR/ Army where very VERY effective. Esp late 90's and more recently the trouble in Belfast from the PSNI, they bring the line to where THEY want it, they NEVER had police standing at one end of the street watching looting going on in front of them.

Agreed. I saw a line of riot police retreating earlier.

I have a grip.

Quash it how? By brute military force and mow them down?

Have a grip[?? really you're the typical copper arn't you?
You prefer to put criminals rights over law abiding citizens...

maybe you should have a look at the situation and realize the namby pamby methods aren't working. But hey let London burn at least then your not upsetting anybody ffs

Clearly this group are dismayed with the lack of economic activity which is impacting their retirement investments, and have so elected to provide their own economic stimulus by disposing of older and dilapidated property, free of charge - thus creating a market for new products and corresponding spending and employment stimulus.

I for one, applaud their economic ingenuity in addressing the economic slow-down in such a novel manner.
