In the next 24 hours there will be 13,000 police officers on duty in London.
How did they get that many? drafting in from other cities no doubt? so rioting and looting will be rife.

No, it's just a vision that is worth watching. Everyone will get different conclusions probably, but final word is really true: how Europe will look like within 10 years - depends on us, man. Just looking at riots and looting won't help, police needs civil help, unless looters are bored or someting.
Looking at the weather, it's going to chuck it down on Thursday - that'll put a stop to it for a while at least. Question is what can they do to deal with it tonight.
Can't say I fancy the Police's position much: this is all too widespread and too fast moving for them to get a good grip on things. I'm really not sure what people expect them to do with water cannons: the cannon will be in one place and one place only and the looters mostly move on once the police get there anyway.

Well I guess then when they do decide to get physical its at a level that will leave these morons with something to consider.
We cant shoot them obviously but we can give them a right pasting.

And that is exactly why the Police struggle to cope with situations like this. They are unwilling to use the force required to stop these riots for fear of being hung out to dry for using what some pacifist wimp considers "excessive force".
Yes there needs to be limits, and officers abusing their power should be brought to account. But common sense needs to be applied. An officer shouldn't have to fear loosing their job if they knock a yob to the ground with a baton, if verbal warning/instructions are not effective. If said yob happens to die due to the injuries caused, then I'm sorry but tough ***, they should have done as instructed by the Police.
And as for the Armed Forces being called in to provide the Police, we are all ready and more than willing to go and help should we be called upon to do so, you can be sure of that. And having several friends in the Police (not the Met however), I know they would be happy to have the extra manpower.
