Obertan deal done :)

Striker and a left back please now.

It'll be interesting to see how Obertan does at Newcastle, he's shown flashes (and I mean flashes) of doing okay stuff at United so who knows if he plays week in week out and develops maybe he'll amount to something

At this point though I'm putting him in the Bellion, Djemba twins, Kleberson & Liam Miller category of players that somehow played for us even when it's clear they weren't even good enough for the much lesser sides they ended up moving to :o

Bit harsh... Should be alright at newcastle, even if they do have a fair few wingers and not enough strikers still

IIRC Fergie long term earmarked Obertan as a central attacking midfielder/support striker rather than a winger so maybe he'll play there for Newcastle?

Oh right I just thought he was just out on the right wide sort of area (where he played in the fa cup 4th round against us last season).

He's pretty quick so hopefully he can be turned into something useful up at newcastle

Fergie tends to play young players out on the wing to give them experience in the first team, that's what they did with Fletcher when integrating him into the first team as well. For what's it's worth Bebe has always been thought off as a striker in the future as well :o

So who is it who thinks Nani is **** or worse than and not worth as much as Valencia, TRM or Tom and Frank?

It's Frank who doesn't like Nani, I'll admit I've got a bit of a man crush on the Michael Jackson lookalike, Nickg's just hates anybody that plays for Man Utd but does have a serious hard on for Charles N'Zogbia and Andy Carroll

Latest on Sneijder is that despite the the riots he's still going to travel to the UK in the next 48 hours......

Yeah, our players and VDS are all coming out saying one by one that Sneijder would fit in perfectly at Man Utd.

I still want him. We saw the potential of the team against Man City to some extent and having Wes in there too would just be epic. Epic I say.

Brad fridel? Martin skelenburg? To name just 2 options who would a, vastly cheaper, b, more experienced. could you not think of these yourself in your attempt to make out that over that last 12 months we couldn't identify a.n.other keeper apart from de gea?

Brad Friedel was born in 1971 I believe so is he likely to be playing at the highest level for more than a year or two? Maarten Stekelenburg is no more tested in the EPL than David De Gea is/was although he is of course the Netherlands #1 keeper, however when you look at who is ahead of De Gea in the Spanish team it's not necessarily a reflection on him lacking talent - there are many international quality goalkeepers who'd struggle to displace the top 2-3 keepers in Spain.

I'm not suggesting that Man Utd couldn't identify another keeper, I've got no doubts that several were highlighted as potential signings - I am however suggesting that to think about writing off a player on one game alone is somewhat foolhardy. At the moment you've signed a player who is young, has a lot of potential and cost quite a bit of money - maybe it was a nightmare game for him but maybe it'll be something that spurs him on to be one of the best the team has had, after one game you can't claim to know the end result (excepting possibly the Djemba twins, they might always have been destined to be rubbish).

I'd actually like to see that, just to see dm explode with rage :p

Why would I, it will only go to show I was right, we should have sold, and be another massive massive 20mil + mistake from Wenger that might lead to someone showing him the door.

Anyway in other news, that crazy stupid rich, Russian club is it, who is buying up older players for insane wages has offered Eto'o 20mil Euro's, PER YEAR, on a 3 year contract, jesus christ that is mental.

Obertan, you can't really tell if he could come good or not, I can think of dozens of players who look crap in one off games but with a run of games are almost completely different players. I don't think Obertan has really had a chance, but not really looked like he's earned one. Not convinced theres a good chance he will be particularly good but you really can't be sure till he gets a run in the team.

Wait i nearly threw a bat fit when Nani was dropped for valencia. I pronounced valencia as workmanlike and Nani as the.man with flair but maybe lacking a bit of brain sometimes.

Who cares when friedel was born. we need great today not 5 years from today. we don't need a.timmy clanger (Tim Howard - porto)

Where did Holland get to in the world cup? Its a bit different to the u20 cup right? Real men kicking the ball hard not kids vs kids. as de gea found out when dzeko fizzed one in from 35 yards.

Alex Chamberlain for £10m seriously? Nice to see Wenger has his ****ing priorities right.

We're crying out for a left back and another centre back and he buys a Walcott clone. :/

NickG / The Running Man literally speaks so much **** his bum must get jealous.

He should go back to not chatting up Asda checkout girls.

Brad Fridel? Really? I mean REALLY?

Fridel has never been good enough for Manchester United and won't be now, despite his experience over De Gea.

Skelenburg? You've harped on about him all summer, can you not name anyone else?

Now, Manchester United have been on top of the English game for the past ~20 years and I'm going to guess that they get more right then they get wrong. De Gea is young and a World renown talent, he might of being expensive but in a inflated transfer market 18 million could well be good value over the next 10/15 years.

I think you're showing yourself to be even more stupid then you usually do after basing all this on one game.

Ah i see, Tummy was it you who said de gea was a proven keeper? If so id be keeping schtum for the time being.

I only quoted the press who said de gea had a nightmare. and it was de gea who said he needed to improve so...i don't even know where you can logically take this argument.
