Rumours about that Chelsea are in for Hazard.

If AVB wants to play his 4-3-3 then, Kalou and Malouda just are not right, today they were anonymous. Imagine if they shifted the dead weight, got in a new CM or two, Hazard & Hulk... would be like a Football Manager dream!

Except Hazard is apparently worse than Gervinho and I've never seen Hulk do anything productive. Saying that, I've never seen Kalou do anything resembling playing football at a high enough level for Chelsea and I've watched him a hell of a lot more...

I think most players would join Arsenal because of Wenger. Only a seriously top class manager (not an up and comer) would have the same pull as Wenger. Without Wenger, and with anyone else (barring Hiddinck, Ferguson, Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola) I cant see how the club would be better off.

That USED to be the case, it isn't anymore, people watched Arsenal and didn't care about Wenger, they saw Arsenal winning the title or coming second. He was barely a big name anywhere but Japan before that and most people when he joined Arsenal were mostly asking who the heck he was.

Success and money meant people came to Arsenal. Youngsters came to Arsenal because quite rightly Wenger valued a 28yr old or a 18yr old with the same ability as equally able to do the job, however, he also paid 18yr olds more than 18yr olds at most other clubs. Hence why we have so much tosh on the books at silly wages.

But Arsenal haven't had success for years, we're still paying younger players too much and we've been buying worse and worse players for 6 years now, what makes you think we can attract a huge name player at the moment?

The biggest players Arsenal get, are whoever is left over once everyone elses business is done.

Wenger's name doesn't hold much weight in big name transfers, only young players, and the money talks more than Wenger these days. On the pitch, he's got the wrong formation, the wrong starting line up, the wrong bench and makes the wrong subs, and thats just compared to players we have that he won't use or uses incorrectly, let alone selling the crap and buying better replacements on the same money which he also won't do.

Not much but I thought Falcao was far and away their best player?

36 goals in all competitions, 24 odd assists. 23 goals in 26 league appearances, Hulk is very productive. Would be perfect in the PL as well, he's got the strength and pace to deal with any winger or full back in the league. I think he'd honestly dominate week in week out.

Hulk played 53 games, scored 36, got 24 assists, he did alright ;)

Porto were insane in Europe though, Falcao only played 22 games in the league, got 16 goals, and got 17-18 in 16 games in Europe(different sources have diff numbers) and 4-5 more in the cup. Only 2 assists though while Hulk got an absolute buttload. Falcao got 24 goals and 13 assists in the league, in 26 games.

The stats are quite different all over the place though, so hard to be sure. I've seen both 4, and 13 assists listed for Hulk in his league games.

Hulks previous seasons have been, meh, except scoring a buttload in the second division in Japan, which means the grand total of who the **** knows.

Falcao's previous season was almost as good, before that he was in Argentina and scoring half as much.

Both have a crapload of potential, Falcao looks more likely to keep going, Hulk, possibly one wonder season.

Arsenal agree terms with Barcelona for the transfer of Cesc Fábregas, flying over for medical right now

I remember reading one of DM's posts and i agreed with every word (:o). This should have been sorted at the start of the transfer window. He doesn't want to stay, nor does Nasri and they could have bought loads of new players, played them all together during pre-season and then they would be prepared.

Instead Wenger delayed it, left it until the season had started and will now have 30-40m to invest (if he even has access to the whole amount) in a very short space of time...

Whilst I agree about buying players and playing them in preseason, if Barca didn't match Arsenals value of Cesc at the start of the window, how is it Wenger's fault for delaying?

For a start, they could have got more last season when he was worth more and Barca clearly could spend more back then. The 'value' of him has dropped and Arsenal should be happy they are getting that much. No-one else would have bidded for him as he only wanted to go to Barcelona. It was just a matter of time and Arsenal knew this.

I think i might be quoting DM again but why delay over a few million? That time could have been spent actually buying players who wanted to play for the cannon.

Same for Nasri. He wants to go, let him go and cash in. That should have happened when he first said he wanted to go and not delayed for weeks and weeks.

Arsenal could have spent 40-50m on players at the peak of the transfer window but instead they have missed their chance.

Why was he worth more last season!? As a midfielder he hasn't hit his peak yet, arguably he's more experienced this season so worth more.

Does anyone actually know what Barca had bid until this week? The stories coming from Arsenal suggested the difference in price was considerably more than a 'few million'

And they could have spent it before then too. The money has always been there to spend with or without the Cesc funds. It's just Wenger either hasn't found the right player, or more likely doesn't want to spend it
