Vela does show promise though. And too be honest we will need everyone we can get.
Our problem in the past has always been that we had an excellent starting eleven but our bench was just ok.
This season we are struggling to get a decent starting eleven together.
Can't agree with any but the last part, for 6 years Arsenal have had the strongest bench of anyone in the league, we just haven't used them.
Vela doesn't show promise, he's the most clinical finisher at the club, he's a very very good player and great interplay with other players upfront. He's just not a winger, like Bendtner, or Eduardo and their quality is shown by the fact they can and have all done a job on the wing when none of them are wingers. Up front all three of those are excellent, Vela has had something like 200-300minutes average in the last 3 seasons, I don't think any of that time upfront and I'm not sure Vela has had a single start.
Our best eleven and then another 6-7 players at Arsenal have been quality until maybe 2 years ago and this season we've been ripped apart. The problem is we take 6-7 of those 15-18 players we have, and pair them up with 4-5 of our worst players, for entirely no reason anyone on earth could understand.
Wenger has been out of his mind for 6 years, its 100% clear when it started happening. Lose Pires, and Reyes and Freddie because Hleb is your new favourite? Let Gilberto, Diarra, Flamini all walk out for essentially nothing(combined we should have got 40mil for those guys), because we had the stunning combination of Denilson, Diaby and Song?
How anyone can pretend they haven't been wrong over the last 5 years I don't know, the season he utterly changed his game style, ability to keep his best players, and his judgement failed utterly is unmistakable.
Since then we've been losing 2-3 great players every season and replacing with crap, Cesc has made up for a lot of those as he is the best central mid in the world. With him gone, we're suddenly playing like the vast majority of our team isn't there anymore, but most of them left 3+ years ago.
Also why is it Arsenal take longer to buy or sell a player than any other club in the world? Every single deal without fail takes months. Half our board needs removing, Wenger needs flat out firing, screw director of football or a board position for him. The guys who sit down and do the negotiating all need firing, the medical staff and physio's all need firing.
People also like this "look who Arsenal have had to play against" routine. Utd don't massively outspend us, they do, but not insanely, City do, they've only been in the top four, for a month, City's spending hasn't effected Arsenal in the slightest until the last year at most, what about the last 6 years, City have HELPED us make silly profit on players, nothing more or less. Chelsea are the only team who came out of no where with money, we managed to win a title after they got money, Utd spending 50mil less on wages than Chelsea managed to win most of the titles since Chelsea got their money.
Chelsea and City being rich is a pathetic excuse, if Utd can beat Chelsea and City on 30-50mil less wages, why can't we get close to Utd who are FAR closer to our level of spending?
Oh, and while I like our keeper, why the hell didn't we get Given, FAR more experience and currently better, and someone for him to learn from for a couple years till Given retires, perfect signing who would have cost next to nothing. Someone we should have gotten 4 years ago anyway, yet again we ignore a great deal, like we decided against getting Kompany for 5mil despite tracking him for years.
