Vela does show promise though. And too be honest we will need everyone we can get.

Our problem in the past has always been that we had an excellent starting eleven but our bench was just ok.

This season we are struggling to get a decent starting eleven together.

£80m plus in the bank from sales. If he can't find 3 or 4 better players than we have at the moment then we are really in trouble. We have been linked with, Meta, Hazard, Cahill, Jag, Samba etc. All equal or better than what we have.

Dein is calling for support but what he must remember is that we have been supporting his decisions for the past 6 years without results and the fans and pundits seem to see what is wrong at the club but Wenger doesn't seem to plug the hole. Only problem now is that the hole is too big to plug.

which begs teh questio. why do people continue to support wenger and no ask for him to be sacked?

The fans aren't in charge of the club and don't make those types of decision. He's done a lot of good for the club, this summer has been a disaster though I agree with that. I've always said he gets this season to make a real push for the title or get the team far in Europe and if he doesn't manage it then it's time for him to take some time away from managing.

Surprised to see West Ham have sold Zavon Hines, I remember his league debut where he tore Carragher a new one. Figured he'd thrive in the Championship for them and really push on for next season if West Ham get promoted

Yes we need Modric deal done and dusted over the weekend. If we can get some real quality in then we could strengthen the whole team. I would like to see Sturridge involved in any part of a deal.

Maybe Levy is worried that Modric leaving would cause a mass exodus from Spurs.

Because he's done an awful, awful amount of very good things for Arsenal, I'm not convinced anybody else in management (at least who we could have got) would have done as well over the last 5 years, we've been competing with teams who are frankly out of our world and often pushing them for titles etc. But now we supposedly have the money to spend, finally, the project is paying dividends at last, but we're not spending any of it , and to make it worse, we're actually selling players like the club is shutting down. Not to mention Cesc has gone, who provided a lot of the glue that kept our team together recently, without him on the field as a safety net, things are massively concerning as imo his brilliance masked some deficiencies

We need a left-back. Gibbs is injury prone and Traore is the worst player I have ever seen.

COME ON ARSENE, PULL YOUR F-ING FINGER OUT. He has had 2 months to find new players.

If we don't sign a LB, CB and CMF in the next 12 days, I will cry. :)

Forever In Arsene We Trust

As for support, I've been right behind Wenger forever, never had a bad word to say, always given Wenger/Arsenal the benefit of the doubt, appreciated the club and what we were trying to do. But we're now shooting ourselves in the foot with a bazooka, I can't stand for such obvious incompetence. I don't need to win the league to be happy, being sensible in the market and an improvement on last season is enough to keep me happy, what has happened this summer is a farce and it's tipped me well over the edge, and imo, I'm incredibly patient

Couldnt have said it any better...now im reading that Chelsea is going to make a £30mill bid for Mata along with a £30mill bid for Modric, a player who we have been linked with this summer...its completely and utterly ridiculous that Wenger says he will spend £40mill+ on a player but wants to make sure hes the right one:confused:...i mean seriously WTF is Wenger on exactly...incredibly narked off now with Arsenal and Wengers refusal to buy world class players.

I dont think its a case of transfer fees for Arsenal, its the wages that are causing problems ie world class players want huge wages which Arsenal steadfastly refuse to pay and thats hurting us big big time because we are losing out on players who could potentially come to us. But then at this present time, who the **** wants to play for Arsenal...we havent won jack **** in the past 6 yrs :/

Damn you Wenger get your finger out and buy some freaking players to strengthen the squad FFS!!!!!!

McLeish confirm that AVFC's transfer deals are done..
Correct me if I'm wrong, but they replaced one of Young/Downing with N'zogbia right?
So in effect the squad's a player (and wages back into the owners pocket) down?

By all accounts the only reason why McLeish is manager and not Martinez or Hughes is because he's the only one that accepted working within Lerner's financial budget.

Still with Albrighton coming through they only really needed to replace one of the two outgoing players

No i agree, potentially, just trying to gauge if they will be better or worse this season :)

He signed Shay Given, that guy's worth a good 6-10 points a season to a mid table club on his own. I'll never forget the one he saved point blank with his face :D

I might send Wenger a copy of football manager and let him experiment and see what happens when you buy good players. :D

It might loosen that wallet :p

Firstly any Palace fans here? Apparently Palace are interested in Danny Seaborne from us... (

Well there is bailing from the sinking ship that is Birmingham Fc too...

Given has to go down as signing of the season already, he was far far too good to be on the bench at city

Vela does show promise though. And too be honest we will need everyone we can get.

Our problem in the past has always been that we had an excellent starting eleven but our bench was just ok.

This season we are struggling to get a decent starting eleven together.

Can't agree with any but the last part, for 6 years Arsenal have had the strongest bench of anyone in the league, we just haven't used them.

Vela doesn't show promise, he's the most clinical finisher at the club, he's a very very good player and great interplay with other players upfront. He's just not a winger, like Bendtner, or Eduardo and their quality is shown by the fact they can and have all done a job on the wing when none of them are wingers. Up front all three of those are excellent, Vela has had something like 200-300minutes average in the last 3 seasons, I don't think any of that time upfront and I'm not sure Vela has had a single start.

Our best eleven and then another 6-7 players at Arsenal have been quality until maybe 2 years ago and this season we've been ripped apart. The problem is we take 6-7 of those 15-18 players we have, and pair them up with 4-5 of our worst players, for entirely no reason anyone on earth could understand.

Wenger has been out of his mind for 6 years, its 100% clear when it started happening. Lose Pires, and Reyes and Freddie because Hleb is your new favourite? Let Gilberto, Diarra, Flamini all walk out for essentially nothing(combined we should have got 40mil for those guys), because we had the stunning combination of Denilson, Diaby and Song?

How anyone can pretend they haven't been wrong over the last 5 years I don't know, the season he utterly changed his game style, ability to keep his best players, and his judgement failed utterly is unmistakable.

Since then we've been losing 2-3 great players every season and replacing with crap, Cesc has made up for a lot of those as he is the best central mid in the world. With him gone, we're suddenly playing like the vast majority of our team isn't there anymore, but most of them left 3+ years ago.

Also why is it Arsenal take longer to buy or sell a player than any other club in the world? Every single deal without fail takes months. Half our board needs removing, Wenger needs flat out firing, screw director of football or a board position for him. The guys who sit down and do the negotiating all need firing, the medical staff and physio's all need firing.

People also like this "look who Arsenal have had to play against" routine. Utd don't massively outspend us, they do, but not insanely, City do, they've only been in the top four, for a month, City's spending hasn't effected Arsenal in the slightest until the last year at most, what about the last 6 years, City have HELPED us make silly profit on players, nothing more or less. Chelsea are the only team who came out of no where with money, we managed to win a title after they got money, Utd spending 50mil less on wages than Chelsea managed to win most of the titles since Chelsea got their money.

Chelsea and City being rich is a pathetic excuse, if Utd can beat Chelsea and City on 30-50mil less wages, why can't we get close to Utd who are FAR closer to our level of spending?

Oh, and while I like our keeper, why the hell didn't we get Given, FAR more experience and currently better, and someone for him to learn from for a couple years till Given retires, perfect signing who would have cost next to nothing. Someone we should have gotten 4 years ago anyway, yet again we ignore a great deal, like we decided against getting Kompany for 5mil despite tracking him for years.
