Still don't understand why Chelsea are going for Modric when Sneijder suits them better and United are going for Sneijder when Modric suits them better.

Chelsea need a replacement for Lampard and Modric isn't that player and United need someone to dictate play from the middle and I don't see someone that plays as far forward as Sneijder working well with Rooney.

Been telling this to Chelsea and United fans around my end for weeks..
Apparently I'm just an idiot 'pool fan

Sneijder would be good in any team, how he'll fit into the formation of utd is for SAF to figure out and if they are presumably close to signing him, he must have some idea of how, i think it'll personally be him and Anderson in the middle, Anderson sits adds bulster and strength whilst Sneijder dictates the play forward with the occasional movement into the box.

If you include the amount of times the Mirror have said it's done then I make it the 16th time... but hey who's counting ;)

Anything started in either the Sun, the Mirror or the Daily Fail are automatically non-starters so I just ignore them anyway :D

Could not agree more, it certainly seems at the moment most are picking us for the title and it being a straight shoot out for second between Chelsea and City with City being most peoples picks and Chelsea in their current state I'd agree with that but the idea of them replacing Malouda with Mata on the left hand side and potentially sticking Modric in midfield be it as a replacement for any of their current players is a very frightening prospect indeed, especially if Torres, Sturridge and Lukaku come good
(

Im thinking that Lukaku will end up with more match time than Sturridge by a long way (before any serious injury is taken into account). I like the Brit, I just dont think he will get upto the level Chelsea need him at for long term, although he still has plenty of time on his side.

Big question is Torres really, I really hope Im wrong (:p) but I think its only a (short) matter of time before he starts scoring prolifically

I think UTd's Modric position is similar to the German mids that were so hot last summer - none of them wanted to move to Utd so nothing "official" happened at any major level. Modric would be fabulous at OT, but if he wants to stay with his settled family in London, there isnt much the club can do.

As for Sneijder - I think he has been a Utd fan for a while (I havent ever seen direct quotes but nearly every article this summer seems to have some reference to this), as to why Utd werent interested during his period at Real, I dont know - but for the price he went for its an incredible mistake compared to the transfer cost / wages mentioned this summer......unless it was his wage demands since Madrid, but I dont think that the club even thought this far two/three seasons ago)

Great in the league, going to leave you getting butt-hurt worse then normal when you face Barca (its inevitable lol) in the CL.

Because Modric has by all accounts made it clear he doesn't want to leave London thus apparently we've made no public interest. I too would much prefer Modric but gave up on that one on June 2nd :(

Can Lukaku play wide though? Because from what I've seen of Sturridge he's the perfect fit to play there and without an doubt an improvement over the ageing Anelka and hit and miss Kalou

Why do you think that? Assuming we dont try 4-4-2 against them again surely any trio including Sneijder is going to be better than simply Carrick & Giggs in there.

---------Carrick--------
Anderson------Sneijder

Cant see that doing any worse than what we did at Wembley, odds would still be against us obviously though :(

Very good point actually - mind you I was ready to write off Welbeck a few seasons ago , and Im still not sure (brilliant signing for Sunderland kind of level, but Im just not sure about Urd / Chelsea level) , yet everyone in Utd's camp are still going nuts over him whereas I would happly see him sold tomorrow (apart from low body count in the squad)

In regards to Sturridge, you are probably right it could well end up being a phased change over between Anelka's experience and Sturridge's energy throughout this season (ie slowly going from former to latter at the beginning, to vice versa by the end)

hmmm interesting - I wouldnt be surprised to see it more like

----------Anderson------
Cleverley ---------Sneijder

(I really like Carrick, and I even have a his shirt from 3 seasons ago, but with consistancy coming from Anderson, Utd could have a much more fluid, interchangable 3 with an eye on the next 3 or 4 years +, with Carrick / Pogba there to step in)

This is another progressional change but with eyes on Utd's direction for a few years

I believe this evenings Sneijder rumour is from a random on Twitter claiming he knows one of the Man Utd physio staff and that his medical is due on Tuesday... that sounds like total BS.

Any other sources or was that it? :o

Think Tom mentioned earlier it was (only) from Twitter :)

Well after one of the players on the US tour said WS had already signed.........I would probably go along with your assessment lol

Everybody gets butt hurt by barca, its a fact. They are unplayable in their current state. Probably the best team of all time, if they cut out the diving and acting shenanigans.

However a mid 3 of Anderson Cleverly/Pogba and Sneijder and young and nani on the wings would be a better match against Barca than our team this year.

Yeah there's that one and some Dutch journo who also thinks a medical will take place on Tuesday. Some dodgy Spanish site as well (TabloideSport)

Personally speaking at this moment in time I'm refraining from putting untested kids (Cleverley/Pogba) in there as lets face it it's the same as Liverpool fans suggesting a midfield with Spearing could do okay against Barca :o :p
