Spanish reporter on 5live now loves Mata, says he doesn't understand why arsenal didnt get him, on less than 1 million euro a year at valencia and wanted to go to arsenal

Kyrgiakos once described on here as the most dominant centre back in the league :o

Most dominant player in the air. If you want to be a smart arse try and get your facts right Tom or I'll bring up your predictions on who Utd are going to sign :o

And I've always said Soto was useless but he won everything in the air. Shame he couldn't head for **** though.

Go on then? I was wrong about us signing Young so what? I even said on one of the first pages on this thread I'd be pro signing Gary Cahill :o

I'm sure if you look back through this thread you'll find no end of stuff that I said at one point that might not be my opinion now, your problem though is that you obviously think you never get anything wrong yourself and therefore are qualified to pull up everyone else on their previous (lets say) misguided opinions.

I'm not going to have an arguement Tom. I had a pop back because you (intentionally or not) misrepresented something I said to have a dig at me.

I'll poke a bit of fun at anybody if they say 1 thing about a player and then have a total change of heart the second they join the team they support. But it's nothing more than banter.

And I don't think or have ever claimed that I never get anything wrong.

as far as i am aware he has only had 1 injury and was out for several months

he played over 30 games for Juve too last season so, what are you guy's basing this on?

Pre Liverpool. When he signed at Liverpool, Wenger said he had looked at signing him, but his injury record was counted against him.

Well basically:

He was top scorer
Then Fergie dropped him for our most important match
Rejected all offers for him
Then made him 4th choice striker.

Honestly you couldn't make it up, don't think anything like it has happened at a top club.

I wonder what's going on with Berbatov.

It sounds like you're gently trying to push him towards the exit. Haven't both Taggart and Gill said they'd understand if he wants to leave after being left out the side towards the end of last season? It's not something you'd expect either to say if they particularly wanted him to stay.

Then why has PSG manager come out and said Fergie rejected any approaches because he wanted to keep him? Honestly the whole thing is just really bizarre

yes but then haven't psg said today they made contact and were then told he wasn't for sale?

It's weird.

I didn't realise PSG had said that. If that is the case then it is very bizarre and makes keeping Owen too even stranger. *edit* a long shot but is it possible that you're using the opening couple of weeks to put Welbeck in the shop window?

And on the subject of Owen. I was thinking the other day, has there ever been a player as good as he is/was that will retire and not be remembered by the supporters of any of the clubs he's played for?

I'll remember him just for that 95th minute goal against City. Made it all worth it for me.

I wasn't just looking to have a pop at Owen (that was just an added bonus) but whenever you think of a player they're regarded as ex-club x player. Owen's not going to be regarded as an ex-Utd player nor Liverpool, Real or Newcastle. He'll be forgotten by most within a few years of retiring.
