Oh look, another striker. Is he going to replace Bendtner's spot on the bench?

LOL funny that in the past few yrs all i see is Wenger buying strikers, wingers or forwards but ermmmm what about the defence as well??...since the invincible season we havent really replaced any of those players that left us. And even more funnier is that past Arsenal players are saying that Wenger needs to strengthen that area as its our weakest. But with the departure of Fab and Nasri...it seems like every area is weak now:p

I guess the whole Cahill £6mill saga is done and dusted...4 more days before the window closes and yet no major signings for us:(...depressing stuff at the moment but im hoping against hope that maybe Mon-Wed Wenger pulls a few surprises out of the bag.

Me = eternally optimistic:D

About the same ego level then.

EDIT: Just read more about Chung. Apparently he was having a medical at Lille when Wenger phoned him. Perhaps we are holding him ransom in exchange for talks about Eden Hazard?

Doubt any deal for Hazard will go through this window; they just sold Gervinho - they won't sell Hazard unless it's for stupid money.

Apparently we signed him because it's a doubt that Campbell kid we bought a week or so back will get a work permit. A slightly cynical view is that it'll attract more interest in the club from the Asian market. Also Bender is expected to leave so it's another one in, one out.

Jol on transfers:

Jol saw a bid for Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome turned down earlier in the transfer window, while the Dutchman has also been linked with a move for West Ham's Carlton Cole.

Senegal international Pa**** Demba Cisse is reportedly one of Fulham's main targets and Freiburg chairman Fritz Keller says the club are considering three bids for the striker.

While Jol admits he would like to bring in an attacker before the Wednesday deadline, he also wants to bolster the squad in other areas.

"It is not only about strikers," he said. "Nine players left the club and there will probably be one or two leaving the club [by the end of the window].

"I am not only after a striker, you know. We need players for the numbers as well because we could not field a second XI [on Thursday], for example, so you have to field your best players all the time.

"That is not what you want and that is why we are trying to get players.

"We are very close [to making signings] but it is always the same, you know.

"If you want a good player there are always other clubs involved so you have to wait and see."

Asked whether a deal for Cisse was in the offing, Jol said: "As normal, we don't talk about that sort of thing. I don't say yes, I don't say no."

It would be more encouraging if it wasn't near the end of the window however :p

I am so unbelievably happy with Chelsea's signings so far this summer.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14696496.stm

Chelsea have signed Mexico Under-20 international Ulises Davila.

The 20-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or forward, joins from Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara.

Davila has signed a five-year contract after impressing at the Under-20 World Cup in Colombia, where he helped Mexico to third place.

Is this the same Park that's been begging Liverpool to sign him all summer?

Not sure I haven't been following many transfer rumours. For people saying "yet another striker" I think we do actually need one. When RVP is inevitably injured we need someone who can play similarly, Chamakh is more of a target man and that just isn't how we play, plus he's been useless ever since van Persie came back from his injury. He's had chances to show he deserves a place in the team, but he hasn't taken them and he looked dire in pre season. He's slow, gets his feet mixed up too often and can't challenge in the air despite being about 6'2.
