I agree with DM regarding Eboue / Bender.

Arsenal will lose some forwards because of the African Cup of Nations and will RVP be fit?

I think Eboue would have played yesterday had he still been at the club, it's all well and good selling back up players to freshen up the squad but you should have replacements lined up.

Newcastle apparently in talks with Davide Santon, Inter full back who can play left or right. As long as we sign some decent full back and WE NEED ANOTHER STRIKER CASHLEY!!!

I love how after yesterday's unbelievably shocking performance due to lack of squad depth Arsenal are looking at selling again :p

Didn't people say you needed to shift the dross to free up wages for better players. They can't have it both ways, paying for better players and keeping squad numbers draining the wage bill.

I think DM said that. But he considers Eboue first team material. Eboue would walk into any team in the world in his eyes. He is his agent though so he has to big him up :p

I don't think anybody is disagreeing with us getting rid of waste of spaces like Traore, it's just the fact we've had absolutely no reassurance so far that we'll get anyone in to replace him.

We'll now have one recognised LB at the club, and he's a perma-crock.

Rocky to Real Betis on loan and Weiss also to Espanyol on loan.

Just Bridge to Newcastle?, Bellamy to Spurs? and Onouha to QPR? to go and our clearout is finished!

wow, another one out the door for arsenal, they are thread bare on defenders, why sell another one even if he is *****.

Getting rid of Traore is a step in the right direction but only if we sign a first choice left back. Gibbs can't be relied upon to stay fit and I don't think he's anywhere near good enough even when he is.

I certainly would prefer if we got the players in and then sold the trash. If we had to play him against Utd that doesn't say much for our strength of squad.

if we sign cahiil and or jagielka vermaeelan will play LB as thats where he used to play ;)

whys that he always used to be a LB and he loves getting forward plus he would step back inside to provide cover which is something jenkinson/gibbs are never going to do

We've sold/are selling around 6 players ALREADY, of which 3 have been very much at the high end of the bracket wages wise. Cesc, Clichy, Nasri, Bendtner, Eboue range from 50-110k a week, we've got rid of a bunch of people and now are removing Traore who I can't imagine is on more than 20k a week(and likely less).

The problem being, sell Traore and buy a better backup, young player, sub 21 with potential, thats fine. But its 2 days till the transfer window ends, and selling a player when the squad is as ridiculously thin as it is now before you've bought that replacement is god damned suicide. I don't rate him but, look what happened, Coquelin played his first league game because we were so short AND Traore played, sell Traore and who do we play next time? When we rest Jenks and Sagna for a cup game to give them a rest and Gibbs is injured....... who plays there?

We needed to sell our 6-7 WORST players to make room for more better players, we've already sold 6-7 of our best players, we now simply don't have the numbers to also sell the 6-7 worst. Selling the worst guys SHOULD have been the plan at the start of the window, that plan is well and truly unachievable now, completely.

No, I've never once claimed anything close to that. Eboue is better than Denilson, by a mile, and Diaby, and Song, the problem is when I started saying that most of the forum were hailing Denilson as the best emerging DM in the league, for a year before they changed their minds, then the same was being said about Song. So when I said Eboue is miles better you all seem to have assumed I've said he's the single best player in existance and you've stuck with that.

Problem is most people now think Denilson is a joke, and Song is a joke, and Diaby is a joke, my opinion of them never changed. When I said Eboue was miles better than them, that doesn't make Eboue epic, it makes the other three woeful. Eboue is indeed a FAR better option than any of those three, and yes he has and does play DM or even as a slightly more attacking midfielder for his country and he's played their for us.

As Wenger was refusing to play Eboue, at 50-60k a week, sell him, I've also been saying that for two years, 6mil later Wenger finally sells him, 6mil wasted. The problem is, he sold Clichy aswell, and now Traore, and let Denilson go, and Bendtner, which basically would have moved Eboue WAY up the pecking order in several positions, positions we haven't filled yet.

The reason Verm was so good two seasons ago was he played alongside quality CB's. You want two high quality CB's to make a good partnership, while Kos looks improved alongside Verm, Djourou is a complete joke, we need 3 competant CB's, full stop.

We finally had that with Toure/Gallas/Verm and for a few months we changed the line up and the back 2 looked solid(even if fullbacks/DM didn't at all), then Wenger started to freeze Toure out, yay.

Also so far, we don't know if Verm will stay fit all year, he's been at Arsenal 2 seasons and basically missed 50% of the games so far...... hopefully he'll stay fit for the next 5 seasons and it will be a blip, but a "minor" problem kept him out all year, and players who have that happen rarely end up being ever present players. Basically as of yet we shouldn't bank on Verm being constantly fit, case in point, he missed this game with an injury ;)
