** Summer Transfer Window 2011/12 Season Rumours/Signings **

Cheap transfers that Arsenal should have got this summer (in my opinion)

O'Shea
Eagles
Riise
Demba Ba
Roger Johnson

Could probably have got all those for under 15 million and are all perfectly acceptable squad players

I certainly would prefer if we got the players in and then sold the trash. If we had to play him against Utd that doesn't say much for our strength of squad.

I agree, it actually hurts my head trying to comprehend how the hell Wenger has sat by and watched us get into this horrific mess. Every man and his dog knew that Fabregas would be leaving one summer or another, was Wenger's grand plan just to bring in Ramsey and assume everything will continue as normal? We lose Clichy and he brings in nobody, instead he prefers to say that signing a player will hold back Gibbs' progression as a footballer. That's all well and good but surely if Gibbs was good enough for the first team he would have been impressing people in training, he would have been pushing Clichy for his place in the team, but he wasn't, and the reason he wasn't is because he simply isn't a left back, he's a left winger and not even a very good one at that.

Has the Traore deal actually been confirmed now or is it just rumour? We should already have signed Enrique as well as Cahill, maybe Jagielka as well and then a creative central player and a forward who can play alongside van Persie. Instead we've stuck with 4-5-1/4-2-3-1, signed nobody for the centre of the park, signed no defenders apart from a 19 year old kid who wasn't even good enough for Charlton's first team and now we're rushing to bring players in. If Wenger spent as much time looking for positions we need as he did looking for our next 15 striker wingers then we'd have an embarrassment of talent all throughout the team. :p

Can anyone explain to me why the transfer window closes on 31st August and not when the season begins?

La Liga, Serie A, Premier League, Eredisivie, Championship all kick off on different dates.

It causes enough problems transfer windows opening at different times throughout the leagues let alone one closing before the rest

I still think Wenger thinks it works the same way as it did once before. We had Silvinho who we let go for Cashley, who we let go for Clichy...but then he tried it again with Gibbs. No need for new signings in his eyes :(

Then he repeats this with Henry who he moves from the wing to up front and it works. Then every single forward at the club has to follow this path to rightousness. Reyes, walcott, bendtner, RVP etc...

His idea of the perfect flowing team where everyone can play in any position is great when you have people like Jlungberg, pires, henry, bergkamp, veira etc but we don't have players of that skill level anymore.

Personally I can't see him snapping out of it. But I certainly hope these next few days go positively with new blood. (And not "Promising" 17 year olds)

OK, but why does it close on 31st August and not, say, 12th August (i.e. just before most leagues start)?

Sevilla after Clint Dempsey now :(, so PSG/Sevilla after him...hopefully neither put in a bid! Couldn't really replace him for less than £10-13m.

O'Shea - No, just no
Eagles - mid table premier league at best
Riise - i presume John Arne Riise, if so, yes.
Demba Ba - no, not good enough
Roger Johnson - yes brilliant cb, just what arsenal need.

most of your suggestions are pathetic.

Quite possibly, but on present squad status, they would be more than useful to Arsenal at the moment.

All 5 of those would walk into the current arsenal line up, were all available this summer and were all available for less than the cost of purchasing Oxlade-Chamberlain

Demba Ba would walk into the Arsenal squad, I don't think so. I'd probably take Johnson and Riise out of those, the rest aren't much better than what we already have, is O'Shea a better right back than Sagna? No.

O'Shea can play across the back four though, can also do a job in midfield in needs be.

Wes Brown was a steal at that price if he can be kept fit.

Better than the kid that played against Utd though.
