Rumours of Malouda to Arsenal for 8mil :( he's 31, useless, stupid and gets the vast majority of goals when the rest of the players are having a ridiculously good game and utterly dominating the other side, when its not going well and you need Malouda to have a great game and help the team, he's utterly awful....... just what Arsenal need.

There are great deals to be had from cast off's from Real/Barca/City/Chelsea as often those clubs spend for the sake of spending rather than they need more quality. Think VDV, Sneijder, Duff, Robben, Gallas, etc, etc. Malouda is not one of them, and I can't really imagine what wages he would want to join us, if we break our wage structure for him....... I think that might make me more angry than not signing anyone, lol.

Left back, its a good start and frankly, with the sale of Traore and his versatility its what the squad needs. He could be great, and thats a fantastic buy, he could be meh, and still be much better than Traore and more available than Gibbs.

As for the price...... when the "we have more money than sense" clubs aren't in for a player, reasonable prices are VERY easy to achieve. of course, if we sold Eboue who can play in basically all the same places for 3mil, to replace him with a guy who cost 7mil, it doesn't look like fantastic business. He's 28, I don't give a monkeys about age, if he's good enough we can keep him for a while.

Santos could be decent, Alex, he's almost certainly better than what we have but his injury record has been pretty poor for the last 2-3 seasons, and is a bit of a clumsy big guy, his defending against West brom was it, was shocking. He's just missed out on playing 40 games in the past TWO seasons due to injury mostly, is 29 and I'm not very happy about picking up a player as he becomes more injury prone as he just about hits 30 and looks a bit less mobile and less good on the pitch.

Cahill for 4-5mil more but a lot younger with more resale value AND a heck of a lot lower wage demands would be a far far better buy. I mean I can imagine Cahill being on 50-60k a week and Alex wanting 100k, Cahill would be cheaper long term anyway, and be worth a lot more to sell.

He hasn't really, he was just appauling before, if you look at who he scored against, I forget the numbers but, 11 of his 13 goals or something were in games Chelsea scored 4 or more in, so Malouda scored a brace in 4-5 games essentially against rubbish teams Chelsea were beating 5, 6 or 7-0, but was rubbish in every other game.

I mean, thats not a terrible player to have, someone to help demolish weak teams but, honestly I don't think Chelsea would notice if he weren't there, and Chelsea fans seem completely unbothered by him leaving.

We need winners, game changers and influencial match winning players, not a couple expensive stupid players who only latch on to others quality. We need Cesc replacements, not more Hleb's.

Anyway, stories in the press seemingly suggesting Wenger offered 8mil for Jones the transfer window before he went to Utd, Blackburn wanted 10mil, we pee'd around, missed the transfer window, and his price went up 7mil by the next transfer window.

Arsenal over negotiate every deal to the point where its simply not worth it. losing out on Jones over 2mil is a complete joke. Almost every transfer window theres a story about missing out on a great player over a couple million and simply running out of time. Why didn't our money guys go over to Bolton on July 1st(or is the english window 1st june?) and hammer out a deal in a couple hours? Why does it take 3 months and STILL aren't close?

Oh, and apparently not particularly encouraging news is Wenger was lost for words after the thrashing at Utd. Maybe a sorry to the players for sending out that team, telling them its not their fault(it really wasn't, its not their fault most of them aren't EPL quality), maybe anger, anything. Wenger sat through that game knowing we were going to get stuffed, a bunch of people predicted a massive thrashing when they saw the team sheet.

I honestly think he knew we'd lose so really didn't do anything just sent the team out. Tell the fullbacks to not go forward, sit deeper, CB's to not rush out and stay tight. I mean 90% of teams going to Utd would have just sat 10 players behind the ball, even crap players with a tiny bit of direction wouldn't have lost by 8.

Mertesacker, Santos, Young, if all true, isn't a bad start. Again I'm not sure where Young will end up playing, if at all.

I think we still need another CB, I didn't realise that the injury Verm missed the game with, was still the ruddy achilles injury which has flared up again and I was already worried he might end up another sicknote after missing an entire season already :(

Alex, Malouda and Benny aren't particularly pleasing to be linked with. Benny is 31 and just come off a bad injury that kept him out for an entire season, will be on higher wages having been at Chelsea and having zero evidence of if he can maintain fitness or is back to his best, and pretty much same goes for Alex, 29, 2 injury hit seasons, looking no where near his best, high wages, etc, etc. With the squad in the shape its in I'd really only want to be in for guys who haven't just come off injury hit seasons.

M'vila, odd rumours, one site is peddling the idea we still want him, have bid 22mil but he has a 30mil asking price, another says we're not happy about his 20mil euro's asking price, so 17.7mil...... If its the later, and he turns out great, thats not particularly expensive and we desparately need a DM(or three, cheap backup and one or two for the future as Eastmond and Coquelin haven't shown anything at all in terms of for the future). We also desparately need backup for Wilshire who I'm freaking praying comes back soon, but he'll need rest and rotation anyway and we need someone to allow him to do that and maybe take the pressure off Ramsey who has looked very very poor so far.

Left back, DM and someone central and creative are basically absolutely essential. If we stick with 4-5-1, Wilshire, new DM and new creative midfielder is what we want. Ramsey could be that second player, but I don't think he's good enough, and when wilshire's out we still need a backup.

Mertesacker - Agility 6, Acceleration 7.

Well that proves it then :p

To be fair that could be Wenger's most brilliant tactical choice if he really is that slow. Djourou, Kos, even Verm and definately Squillaci all absolutely love to race out of position to intercept passes or close someone down and try and win the ball early, problem is out of the four only Verm is any good at doing that, the other three are so retarded they just leave a big gap.

So the solution, buy a player too slow to be tempted to do it :p
