i just think its abit disrespectful joining the rivals after years of united fans showing there support for him,i just think he has done this because he is abit bitter that united let him go.

Oh come on. Not all footballers want to dig the knife in at every opportunity.

If you were a free agent and you had an offer from WBA and Man City, where would you go?

He had a a few seasons at Man U, so what. It's not like he owes them anything. Man Utd's loss is City's gain. That's football.

Still not overly impressed either of Arsenal's signings so far, I'll wait until the window has closed.

Also, it shouldn't of taken an 8-2 defeat for Arsenal to start signing players, it's feels very knee jerk. It's Wengers fault for not addressing the problems within his squad before and not sorting his deals out earlier.

The squad will be looking much better if we do manage to sign the guys we're linked with, if we conclude all of our business then I think this is a decent line up:

4-2-3-1
-------------------------Szczesny---------------------------

Sagna-----Mertesacker-----Vermaelen-----Andre Santos

--------------------Song--------Wilshere--------------------

Walcott---------------van Persie---------------Gervinho

-------------------------J.Y Park-------------------------

Fabianski
Jenkinson
Koscielny
Frimpong
Ramsey
Arshavin
Chamakh

I still think we need another striker, Chamakh can't cut it, Bendtner is apparently on his way out and we don't really have anyone else. I'd like to have kept Vela at the club but he's still young and the experience in Spain will do him good. I'm not saying this is a world beating team or anything but it could work out well for us, much better than what we have currently anyway. Also missed out Miyaichi, we could exclude Chamakh from the bench and stick him in instead, Arshavin can play up front or we could shift RVP up front instead of just behind Park and put Arshavin where RVP is in the above formation. No idea where Chamberlain would fit in, we have too many players who play in the same positions.

Gradel gone to St Etienne after handing in a transfer request :(

Was only other week he was saying he wanted to stay at Leeds for years to come. It better have been a good deal (we told West Ham to triple their 2 Million offer) and Bates better give Grayson the money to spend tomorrow!

According to SSN, Chamakh might be off on loan.

Good, we should never have offered him a contract in the first place. Admittedly he scored a few crucial goals which kept us in the league while RVP was injured, but he's barely featured since, and now that we've signed another striker whose been given the number 9 shirt I have no idea where Chamakh figures in Wenger's plans.

I think RVP is utilised better if we play him behind the main striker, he can't play up front on his own and I don't think Wenger will use two up top in a million years so the best place for him is just behind the main man and he can drift up front or to the wings, basically free roaming especially with his vision and creativity I think it's best.

Can't blame Gradel, he always gave 110% and with Bates at the helm no player is going to get a competitive wage to other clubs in the Championship. I'm glad he's gone abroad so I don't have to see him tearing it up for another club.

It's time for Nunez to step up and take his place.

Talk of Lansbury still coming in on loan. We need a few players but can't see it.

Sneijder is coming, I can feel it.

Yep and after this lengthy drawn out affair he will be the next Veron or Berba.

I remember the transfer thread when Berba was in coming for ages and United fans kept soiling themselves :D

Better off staying in slow Italian football ;)

Re: Bender, he's said that he may still have a future at Arsenal.

I like him, and I think we should have given him more opportunities in his natural position, rather than sticking him on the wing for 10 minutes every 5 games. For me he's like Chamakh in build, but technically he's much better and given an extended run in the first team I think he'd come along quite well and with a player like him you have to wonder why we signed Chamakh in the first place. He has missed some sitters though, like that one against Barca, and that shocking game against Burnley(?) in the cup I think it was. :o

Only problem there is, Walcott/Sagna has and will continue to be shockingly poor defensively on the right hand side, we have no idea how good the new boys will be, RVP's build up play has become pretty woeful of late with his tendancy to drift further back he becomes almost useless. Gervinho so far in what 6 games has been good for 15 minutes and pretty awful for the rest.

Vermaelen is currently out with his achilles having flared up..... which is what kept him out all last season, Wilshire is out for a completely unknown amount of time, Ramsey isn't a patch on Wilshire as a replacement and Song is just flat out rubbish.

I think its unlikely, very very unlikely we'll see Young on the pitch ahead of RVP, 4-2-3-1 is a horrible horrible formation when you've got Walcott and Sagna on one wing, an unknown quality left back, and Gervinho who we've still to see if he can help defensively.

Of course that team looks vastly better than the one we put out against Utd,

but remove the guys currently injured, and it looks worse, remove Song and it gets worse. Song was, IMHO, just waiting for that incident where ref's stop giving him the benefit of the doubt. End of last season there were really 4-5 games he should have got sent off in, if ref's stop helping him out, he'll end up missing half our games.

Wilshire and Verm are HUGE for us, maybe the two most important players in the team right now, from experience with Arsenal injuries, the way they are being reported/not really mentioned and how long they've been out, I'm really quite worried by how much we may or may not see them this year.

3 signings is massively better than what we'd done so far, but we're still going to be 5 players short of hitting the top four, and maybe too many short of hitting a even somewhat respectable 5th/6th.

Bryan Ruiz incoming for £10.6m according to SSN.

Fulham have agreed a £10.6m fee with FC Twente for winger Bryan Ruiz.

Surprised they got him

Aye, been rumoured for a while..had a few bids rejected, they were holding out for €13m. Not sure where he plays for Twente, apparently hes a winger but scored more than a goal every 2 games - so assume its part of a 4-3-3? Still need another striker, winger, centre mid and a defender by tomorrow, which by the sounds of things is possibly; Ruiz, Jerome, Boateng or Muntari, Jerome Thomas/someone else and Grygera.

I agree with most of your points, that's not the starting 11 or formation that I'd want, but it's pretty much the best thing we can hope for under Wenger. I don't know if Sagna is too old now to actually adapt and stop getting forward so much, I think it would virtually be second nature to him now and I hope Mertesacker will keep him in shape.

Walcott is far better down the middle in my opinion but Wenger clearly isn't going to play him there, even though it's clear to everyone who watches Arsenal on a regular basis that Walcott is rubbish on the wing, I'd go as far as saying he actually looks like he'd make a decent second striker but Wenger isn't willing to give him a chance there, hopefully he'll just drift inside of his own accord.

I agree with the injuries though, the squad still looks very thin and a couple of injuries for example to Vermaelen and Wilshere and we are looking pretty bare in the centre. I think Koscielny would be a decent back up but Djourou and Squillaci are lost causes, even Ignasi Miquel would be my choice over either of them two.

In an ideal world we'd sign a proper defensive midfielder who actually likes to stay back and defend, but I don't see it happening and we'll be relying on the yellow card machines that are Song and Pong. To be fair to Frimpong though he's really young and even though he's played a couple of games and came in with wild and stupid challenges in all of them I think that can be nurtured out of him with the right training and the right players to learn off, which unfortunately we don't have at the moment.

Providing we get in the CB and LB I would still like us to get two more midfielders and if we want to finish in the top four then that's what we'll need, with virtually zero time left though I don't see it happening. Also if Vermaelen's achilles problem is going to be a continual thing then we need another CB, Alex would be perfect for me.
