Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

Well Battlefield 3 was on show Sunday at i43...I queued but unfortunately did not hang around to get a go due to the TF2 finals.

I did manage to stand behind some people and watch the game play. Without first hand experience of actually playing it appears to be another FPS but it seemed very detailed in graphics. To be honest it reminded me of COD...just a little bit more detailed and realistic it seemed.

I got no confirmation on Beta dates or actual game features...so I guess we will have to wait and see

I can tell you first hand having played, all the COD's, all the BF's and Alpha from day1 + SQDM at i43...

Its honestly nothing like COD and if it is then its only taken the best bits, its very much stayed loyal to the BF series and has that whole build up to a kill feeling, unlike COD where you throw a nade in the air and chances are it will kill some one.

If you were impressed with the graphics at iseries then you were deceived wahaha... believe it or not they were actually rubbish in comparison, as the demo they showed SQDM was played on under-spec'd PC either that or didn't optimize the game prior to sending it as the FPS was rubbish so was the level of detail they set it at.

anything less than a q6600 overclocked to 3.6 wont run it.....even a dual core e8400 4.0 wont run the game.

Gutted, I went to Leeds festival and spent all weekend far too hammered to go play in the BF3 tent! Which I heard was pretty good

Really looking forward to the beta, need to work out what, if any upgrades I need, as after spending like a year of BF2 on low low settings, I'd really like to jump straight into baby smooth full settings for this.

Too bad the next gen cards atleast for nvidia are next year, and I hear Q4 this year for AMD may be optimistic. Running a 5870 right now but I think its dying

Someone just spotted this on the bf3 forums, some pistols can be equipped with scopes.

Guy swaps from a rocket launcher to a scoped pistol at 22 seconds in. Much easier to see if you full screen the vid.

Scoped pistols suggests pistols could be as good as rifles ? Hope not.
To me the best gameplay would be calling in firesupport from your teammate in a jet not having one player on the ground able to level the place solo which is more bad company style

I assume you mean, the guy on the ground laser targeting the tank/building? That would be pretty powerful IMO.

for six feet firefights thats fair enough I guess, Im hoping the rifles are more useful because ultimately the game isnt decided by six feet stand offs
