****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Mobilefun should be getting them in as soon as possible I imagine. i have sent the details over to them.

Now, that's clever marketing...

Release a larger battery - longer life, phone feels/looks better ....

and everybody has to buy a a new case / car kit

Makes me wonder why Apple never thought of it :D

Im dying to make the switch from my iPhone 3GS to one of these and want to ditch iOS for Android.

Afew questions:

- Best place to buy sim free/unlocked at a good price?
- Is there an app to display all notifications on Lockscreen (like Lockinfo on iPhone)?
- How easy to mod and theme is it? I like tinkering! Can i theme SMS, dialer etc?
- Do they have Profiles (like the good old Nokia's)?
- How easy is to to hook upto (PC and transfer files and vice versa?

Don't know about buying but unlocking is free from XDA forum, there's an app someone created that unlocks them.

Yes, WidgetLocker can put any widget on the lock screen as well as enable full functioning of the notification bar.

You can install 3rd party diallers, messaging apps etc with theme support and tinker away for hours/days on end. Hundreds of possibilities available on the Market.

- Do they have Profiles (like the good old Nokia's)?
Yes and No. Some phones have stock profiles, others do not but they all can have them via profile apps on the Market. Notable is that here you can enable zone profiles so if you set it so it goes to silent while you're at work you can also set it to go to normal when you're home.
A couple of Market apps to allow zoned profiling like this.

- How easy is to to hook upto (PC and transfer files and vice versa?
Plug in USB cable, select USB Storage. Or just connect and browse to it wirelessly using FTP/Windows Explorer.

Yup you guessed it, there's an app for all that too.

Many thanks mrk.

Any apps to reply directly to text messages direct from lock screen or within an app? I dont want to quit an app to look who has text me.

I got mine yesterday and I am loving it. Came from a hero and the speed increase is phenomenal. Webpages load in an instant, I can even play Angry Birds now.

Any good apps? I remember seeing an augmented reality app which uses the camera and your location to find the nearest London Underground stations. Anyone know the name?

The only bad thing is that it is full of orange software and a couple of Samsung bits.

Oh I am going to pick up a few bits, case, dock, class 10 card and bits.

You don't have to quit an app, if a message comes in simply drop the bar down, select the message, reply, click back and it goes back to your app that you were working on.

You can install other apps for messaging like GoSMS or Handcent which have message popups that can show above currently running apps, you can then reply within the popup.

Handcent allows you to choose if the popup shows over the lockscreen as well.

It has a notification LED!!!

Also it looks thicker than our one. I imagine it comes with the 2000mAh as standard. Not bad.

Not bad.

Good point, I miss that from the Desire (although you get used to not having it pretty darned quick!).

Just when I'm getting used to having a slim lightweight phone they go and release the extended battery and thicker case... I'll stick with stock for now :D
