A type of photography I really like is Church and Cathedral photography, So i thought of making this thread so people can share theirs. It doesn't matter if it's HDR, single exposure, handheld or tripod but i'd love to see your work. Perphaps we can even share advice?

I'll start it off :D

That's lovely, the only way I can think of improving it would be to have it symmetrical. Nice shot :)

Only churchy one I have;

Thats nice!

How odd though, that almost exact same floor is used in St nicholas and wade, i'll post it soon :D

QUESTION : Although i do a lot of HDR with my church and Cathedral's what's the best way to expose inside these buildings?. I always find the windows too bright or the lighting extremely bad and not what I saw through my eye.

Do you expose for the windows or the walls?

I don't expose for the windows, nor the walls. All I want is the /frame/ of the window, but what's behind is of no interest and will need HDR to get to anyway. I usualy expose on the window frame (piece of lit stone) until the interior is "dark, but there" then push the exposure a bit in post. That way I don't have "blown windows"...
Its really a question of finding a "middle gray" to center your histogram on...

expose on the window frame

That's new to me, thanks :D

If you could use that image again as a temporary basis, could you draw a circle on ms paint whereabouts the camera would be pointed at for exposure?

Cant do that until next week, but I will post a snapshot of the RAW file, so you'll see what to look for on the LCD. You'll see that it's counterintuitive, because it looks badly exposed, at first...
