Edward Teach:
Very valid points you have there and I fully agree, but unless some solid info is in the original post then I think it is always going to be difficult to collate decent information.
Anyways, there are two apps for mail because Gmail only works for Gmail whilst Mail works for all others.
Personally I stick with Gmail because its far easier to use and has very nice mail controls built in plus it uses push notifications. This means you get your mail as soon as it arrives. Not sure if you knew that or not
Also, most people use an app called Appbrain to check the most popular and highest rated apps. It is worth installing that to browse through apps.
I'll give you a few of my most used apps though, sorry for no links since I'm browsing via the phone itself!
MoboPlayer - awesome video player that literally plays anything
Quickpic - better gallery app, much faster and more features
Dropbox
Evernote
SwiFTP
IMDB
Movies
Titanium Backup (needs Root access)
SMS Backup and Restore
ES File Explorer
And more but I'll be here forever
Root means you need Superuser access on your phone, most people refer to it as rooting. There's guides and explanations over at XDA Forums if you wanna know more, but thats more advanced stuff that you may want to take a look at later.
Hope that helps a little!
