Yep Iphone4 market pretty good at the moment, sold my damaged one for £200 on the bay....can't wait for my Samsung to arrive tomorrow, my first time on Android.

My first of many questions, what's the difference between a rom and a theme?

A ROM is a whole modified firmware or sometimes just modified Android OS, a theme just customises certain parts of the android OS such as colours and icons etc.

Tho you will need a custom Rom to get a theme manager I think, ive tried looking for a theme manager for the stock rooted ROM but my searching fails me :(

So do you need to root the phone in order to install a rom, or does installing a rom automatically root a phone, I am pretty confident in how to root, just unsure of all the different terms at the moment.

so what roms are people on and why?

stock kh3 rooted. does all I need.

You don't need root to install a new rom but it's probably easier, as if you root with cf-root you will automatically have clockworkmod ready for flashing.

Ok, so i have an SII on the way to me now. :D

Last time i was on Android it was 2.1 (?) i think? FroYo? On a Nexus one that was rooted. I take it things have moved on since then ? :)

Couple of questions if i may,

- This is the best way to root i take it? - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

- Whats the ROM of choice at the moment?

- Is Kies needed at all? For rooting (i read something about needing its drivers?) or other?

- Do you still use ADB at times?

Cheers!

whats the latest play games on easy mode debranding process? :p want to dump t-mobile shizzle, guess I can use kies update after debrand after the initial stock rom I put on? :)

Depends, you can only upgrade via Kies on certain firmwares, most of the time it says "you cannot upgrade the firmware on this revision". I'd just flash kh3 via Odin, I don't like Kies.

SamsungDive is awesome!, unlock my screen doesn't work remotely though, just says failed.

I took it that "unlock my screen" was if you had used the remote lock already not just that the standard lockscreen was on so if you hadn't already remotely locked it then you couldnt remotely unlock it ;)

really fancy one of these but dont think I can use it without sense, I used my hero for a week without sense but then went back to a Sense ROM.

Can it be rooted and a modern sense based rom installed on it?

Okay - I've had my SGSII for around 3 months now, and I'm dead happy with it. Had many iterations of Lite'ning ROM install, up to the latest version. I've updated each time without wipe. I now feel my phone is messy..

So.. can someone give me an ideal of how to wipe to almost factory settings and get the best battery life? Also, suggestions on ROMs :).

Any information will be appreciated!

Not fussed about my apps, I will install them again. Just found Wipe Data/Factory Rest in CWM. Doing it now.. Any ROMs that people recommend (not Lite'ning)?

I like AOSP ROM's but there are only 2 real choices for that, CM7 and Oxygen.

*goes back to Mario Kart 64 and FFVII with the PS3 pad*
