'Soon' means end of the month!!

Looking that way, at present we're waiting on a date, then when we get the date its another wait for the day to come when its available. So wtf is wrong with announcing a date now unless the beta will just show up as being available sometime in the next week?

Hoping battlelog will have some info this week about it, though i somehow doubt it.

In bf2 you could even see nametags through smoke screens
BTW, still waiting on my tenner.

Good luck tracking them through a smoke screen when you got to keep pointing at the enemy to even see their tag, and when did I mention it should be that way in BF3? I'm simply pointing out you are wrong about spotting and name tags in BF2.

BF2 also had markers for spotted enemies

Tenner? when game ships I'll pay up.;)

Regarding the Beta, IMO it's being held up becuase of the consoles Let's face facts we have seen nothing of console multi-player but plenty of PC, my guess is the console BF3 is needing some work doing and that's why we have had no confirmed beta date yet.

About as much chance of seeing my tenner as we have of seeing your stats.

When tanks got into close quarters popping smoke was pointless, you could easily track it through smoke, and for whatever reason i never seemed to have much difficulty in finding infantry in smoke, just scanned through it and cracked off some shots. Was still a dumb decision, it seemed as far as the game engine was concerned the smoke wasn't there.

I stand by my 25th September :p

It's getting more likely by the day :D

Lol reminds me of the current situation with AMD Bulldozer.

About as much chance of seeing my tenner as we have of seeing your stats.

Lol is that Gerard spanking Raven's ass!!?:p

Dear EA. Please will you put in an anti-cheat system in BattleField 3 to get rid of all the aim bot crap? Oh.. you won't? You suck!

Ninety-nine times out of a hundred when you reckon someone's using aimbot, they're just better than you :p

Aim bot users say that. ;)

I have seen it ruin too many games. I'm still playing BFBC2 daily, and as soon as a hacker comes on the server, it is hosed. The balance is gone. EA has never been keen on handling the problem. Valve try at least.

Yup, no way they could have used a Console as the lead Platform for this, far too big in scale.

I'm going to massively facepalm if the console players complain on release that it doesn't look like the pre release material, people cannot expect DICE to work miracles, I couldn't be happier with their decision to lead on PC.

edit: Some console users think an xbox or ps3 is made of spider webs and magic, its such a limited machine at this point and every time I buy a weapon off the wall in blops zombies i'm reminded of the savage lack of even a basic texture filter (to get the 60 frames)

Or just plain and simple got lucky. Im one of the first to scream and shout down a TS channel at unexplainable things, joke 1-shot kills when im shooting at someone and get a decent number of bullets in them where they spot me and im left looking at the sky.
Deep down i know there must be countless times ive got very lucky with shots, just split second reaction and fired off the perfect shot and walked away when i shouldnt have.

Likewise with behind cover deaths, no way they could see you cos you were already behind a wall, but chances are you've killed your fair share in similar circumstances, its just that your perspective is different, lag differences where safe & dead exist at the same time on different peoples machines.

Knowing that wont stop me moaning about it though :D

On the Beta debate, im not too fussed when its released to be honest. That may well be because i've already had a short jump on the alpha, i've experienced it and it was everything i wanted it to be so im not feeling the need to try it and put those concerns to bed. Nobody i knew had access to it, so it was a lonely experience, and im not a player who does MP without others, it doesnt do anything for me. Public beta will be far more enjoyable and im sure i'll put plenty of hours in.

Its not a Demo though, they're right to call it a Beta because while they wont completely redesign the game from feedback they'll be using it to judge elements THEY believe need to be corrected. Weapon balance, server usage data, address exploits.. stuff like that. Its for minor tweaking before its finalised. A Demo is a snippet of a finished game, exactly as you'd be buying.
Public Betas arent the platform for gamers to make suggestions and expect wholesale changes to be made. I do a fair bit of private beta testing and even then you have a little more than zero input, they know what they want and your they're to help them see if their calculations are correct.

I'd settle for seeing photos/videos of some of these MP maps. Im just desperate to see more, i'd happily swap my beta access for a good look at the new and old/recreated locations in a heartbeat. I'd be jealous as hell, but i'd do it! although i'd rather do it with someone elses, any takers? :D

In a recent interview with GameSpot, DICE’s Karl Magnus-Troedsson said that piracy didn’t affect the Battlefield series because the games require an online connection and account, but that doesn’t mean the studio has no experience with piracy. Here's a taster:
What would you say is the biggest threat to PC gaming?

Karl Magnus-Troedsson: In light of recent events, not just gaming but everything, hacking is one of our biggest problems. I think every company out there is arming themselves to the teeth when it comes to security. It's natural for a company to gain its credibility and take care of a person's credit card. The problem is that if [hacking] keeps increasing, then this will perhaps take focus away from making the best games and services possible. That's definitely a threat, one way or another.

I understand where people come from with this whole anarchy; everything should be free kind of situation. I think a lot of us who work in the game industry were hackers from the beginning. Some people hacked code and they managed to get into the games industry. There's definitely some kind of connectivity between the subcultures or whatever you want to call it, but the problem here is that we want to focus on making the best games we can. Let me give you an example. We're working on Battlefield. We're spending a lot of our time just fixing problems that have to do with hacking our game, people creating cheats, or people ruining the game for others because they have aim bots…all the kind of crazy stuff people can come up with when they reverse engineer a game.

I can see the pride people take in this because they will learn a lot from it, but they're ruining the experience for a lot of people. That makes me a bit sad. We want to create entertainment that people enjoy, but instead, we have to spend time focusing on the bad parts of it, which we will do, of course. It's part of our responsibility, but if that would magically go away, it'd be a good thing for the whole industry.

The second thing: I still believe piracy is a big problem for us even though the public discussion has disappeared a bit. So far, Battlefield has been unaffected by it because we have a multiplayer online game where you need to be logged in, so we haven't had any huge problems with it. We've had other titles that have been hit hard by it, so piracy is still a problem. I'm not advocating draconian DRM solutions. I don't believe that's the best way to do it. I'd rather have people buy our games, direct to consumer through different e-tailer solutions. And then by doing that, they should get something more in the game. I don't know…it could be early access or a boost pack for free or something like that. But piracy is definitely still a problem.

I see people talking about the 25th but isnt that a sunday? Would they really start it on a sunday? Although that would mean the early access would be friday so that would be good :D

I think the beta will be out a month before release so thats last week in september?

More than likely i guess, I even got a new keyboard and mouse mat for this game :D Been playing too many MMOs and need to get my aim back, Only problem is all my friends play COD, Its better than nothing i guess just to get my aim back
