****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Thats a lot of money for a phone. I paid £300 for a new SG2

That is particularly cheap though, generally the iPhone SIM-free is the same price as the top end Android devices. Also, you'll get far more money back from selling an iPhone in future, the Android phone prices tend to drop a lot more.

The iPhone is only priced outrageously on certain contracts due to the networks exploiting people, many of them (often O2) are absolutely crazy, but others are better such as Three on The One Plan.

I think I will refuse delivery and send it back to tmobile see what iPhone 5 will offer prob same layout as iPad 2 and that's way more powerful than the galaxy 2 so I have been told

i very much doubt the IP5 will have the same gpu found in the ipad2. Way too hot and power hungry.

Just kidding , this will be first android phone I will have since a had the original g1 I loved tin king with that and installing new stuff so I think bye bye iPhone I have the iPad 2 anyway so no big loss :)

Mmm, pretty annoyed:mad:

My SGS2 started playing up in early August, it thought there was something plugged into the USB port all the time, so the charging animation would start and you couldn't use the USB at all even though there was nothing plugged in to it.

Sent it off to Three for repair, it was finally returned nearly four weeks later with no fault found. Within an hour or so of getting it back, had the same problem again. So returned to Three again on Monday, got a message from them today saying it was fixable but not covered under warranty:confused:

Just phoned them and they say their repair team (Regenersis?) are saying there was liquid damage to the USB port. I'm pretty annoyed as I'm always really careful with my phone, and I'm very particular about not using it in the rain for this very reason. I also use a flip case so the USB port is covered all the time except when in use or charging.

Its £35 to fix, which I've agreed to as I want the phone back asap, but have raised a complaint with Three about this. First I'm querying the diagnosis, although I doubt I'll get too far with that. However, my main gripe is why did they have the phone for nearly four weeks the first time I returned it, and yet didn't find a fault during that time?

That is something I have noticed about the 2 compared to 1. The USB slot on the first phone has a slider to cover up the usb slot which imo is very handy and should be on the second. Stops dirt/dust getting in there not sure why it is left out.

that sucks big time mate! make sure you moan all the way to the top, demand that £30 back and compensation for your lack of phone. feel for you... they kinda have you over a barrel when they have your phone... bit like when the MOT tester says it will cost you £50 to pass it.... rock and a hard place :(

Brand new, second hand? How does that work?

I have a question, not regarding the S2 but the first one. I want to sell mine now how do I wipe everything off? Obviously want to leave it rooted and my rom on there just wipe my details, factory reset is all?

Sorry i meant Brand new but from a non retail seller :p

Don't say that photoshop, its taken me ages to convince myself ill be ok! :(

What problems have you got?

Its not really problems, its what ive been use to.

On the iPhone I had Lockinfo which displayed all logs/calls/emails/texts on the lockscreen which I could view, dismiss or reply to without unlocking the phone. It was really handy to glance at and simple to use. I miss that and so far unable to get that experience on the SG2.

Inputting text on the SG2 seems harder. On the iPhone it was clear and simple. Too much stuff going on with the SG2 keyboard I feel. NO double space for "." and no auto correction (without swipe auto creation mode).

Miss SBSettings. The SG2 does have some widgets where you can swipe down and turn things on and off but not as many as SBSettings.

I really wanted to cross over from iOS to android but its not easy after using iOS for many years and having to get all the apps again.

The phone is brilliant though! No issues with that!!

Browse the web, text, make phone calls, use whatsapp, Reeder and the odd game (but will still have an ipod touch 4g for that)
Thats about it!

I bought it off another forum :p

It's fine for those things, don't worry. You may find the software a bit complicated at first but it really isn't. What made you change though, just the hardware side of things?

And you're really going to carry an iPod touch AND the SGS2? Why!
