Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [17th - 19th September 2011]

LOL maybe but if we cannot beat Blackburn, a team who cant defend soundly then it says it all...wheres the quality exactly??..RVP??...ok but i cant say any of our other players are quality...Wilshere and Vermaelen both injured, both quality players and they are out for a few mths at least...

And what 'poor' teams have United managed to lose to over the years? There is a huge difference between having a bad day and a bad season. A lot of people were saying Liverpool were going to be in a relegation fight last year but in all likeliness even if Hodgson had stayed they would have been just fine.

If Arsenal were to drop into the bottom ten for the whole season it will take injuries/runs of poor form for 75% of your players and Wenger having a breakdown.

Just like Chelsea thrashing everyone at the start of last year, these runs don't last for a whole season, Arsenal will be fine. It just depends what your definition of fine is.

Nasri hasn't got a lot to do with it, we've literally no strength, no leadership, no drive in central mid, we've lost Cesc and Wilshire, Cesc I've told people for 4 years, is one of the best players in the world and very few people have realised what a truly ridiculous difference he made to the team.

Wow, I never realised that we were going to miss Fabregas when he went, he did virtually nothing for us when he was playing in an Arsenal shirt.

Why do you think there are only a few people that rate Fabregas? He would walk into any team in the world. Of course we are going to miss him.

It's like saying Usain Bolt wouldn't miss his legs

Watching the 2nd half, Blackburn wanted it more, You watch Man U/City/Chelsea and they will never ease up, Blackburn played some good passes and counter attacked in the 2nd half, Arsenal didn't want to know, did not seem like a team that can keep coming back, their mentality has been warped by Wenger stupid logic!

Arsenal seemed like a mid table team

How did Ze big german play? I can honestly say he is going to be a disaster at Arsenal unless they change tactics. Arsenal like the high defence line and Mertesacker just cant run, Its been proven in the NT and in the CL when he has sometimes just been made to look like a total mug.

Wenger is too stuborn to change the tactics though

He didn't play too bad, he should've buried a header in from 6 yards out at the end. Blackburn rarely played the ball in behind in the first half.

I think Arsenal's immediate concern is their strikers heads will start to drop if they continue to defend this shambolically, once heads drop that's how teams get dragged into the relegation zone.

Just out of interests DM, Who would you like as a new manager if wenger was to get the boot? I think he does need to go for Arsenals sake.

Ancelloti would do far better than Wenger, thats for sure, but honestly a lot of our players are just so rubbish now. We've got guys tied to contracts who won't leave, Song isn't going to move down the 2 leagues he should to a 5k a week contract he deserves.

I don't know where Arsenal can go now, Diaby, Theo, Song, Squillaci, Chamakh, we've got so many players on long and expensive contracts who I really doubt we could get rid of at this stage, transfer fee's don't mean a whole hell of a lot, but if you need to shift a 60k a week player to bring in a 60k a week player, we're going to have issues. Thats in terms of becoming GOOD again, I'd take not as crap and that would only take a few key players, and thats obviously got no chance of happening till January.

Ancelloti, Hiddink, I do think Hodgeson would do very well with the defence and organising them, Moyes potentially, though not convinced he'd be up to bringing in the right players, the Dortmund manager seems to be doing very well, organised, flowing attacking football, gathering a fairly cheap young squad.

In terms of who could make Arsenal great and compete for titles, I don't know, in terms of who could stop the absolute slide Arsenal is in, get a list of managers, put it on the wall, throw a dart and you've got a pretty damn good shot of finding a better manager right now.

I mean one thing Wenger could quite simply do is recognise the defence has problems, bring in a new defensive coach.... watch the defence improve, he won't even do that.

We haven't had the hardest start, Blackburn Newcastle and Swansea? West brom are a point below us, conceded less than half the goals, having played Chelsea/Utd/Stoke already, but they also didn't look terrible against any of those three teams, they were narrow losses and West brom played well.

We've played worse teams, and looked awful playing them, thats the problem.

Actually, I'd happily, very very happily take Hughes, fire Wenger tonight and bring in Hughes, he made Fulham solid offensively and defensively(when they had their strikers back they looked very dangerous). He can sort out a defence, he'll play good attacking football if he has a team capable of it(city/fulham). We could do much much worse than take Hughes on a contract to the end of the season, at the moment I'm not sure who we could get with transfer window gone and most managers in jobs for the moment.

In Likeliness we would have been fine? Hodgson was utter tripe for us and i highly doubt we would have been fine his methods, players he was aiming for etc were ALL wrong, He didnt do one thing right for us and never should have got the job.

On another note,Arsenal as ive noticed people saying else were maybe need a really bad spell for things to change, Wenger i dont think has been right for Arsenal for more than one season he has no plan b as every one says every season, Most teams know what to do vs them and whilst they have some Quality that's mainly gone due to Fabregas leaving.

4th will be a fight between Spurs,Arsenal,Liverpool (which we will get it :p) Now whilst id gladly take 4th i think arsenal fans are sick of settling for that position by making same mistakes every year.

Considering Ancelloti is still free i think he would do better for you than Wenger, Hughes well i can see were you coming from but if you were to replace Wenger i think Ancelloti would be the better option
