****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

ok thanks, so i do not have to turn anything on or anything
Are you sure about that? On my OSF and the wife's Sensation the icon shows what you can use.
Network engineer here. Phones will "normally" show their current connection status. At idle this should be 3G and on data use should escalate to HSDPA. Some phones though had the odd side effect where they leave the "H"/"3.5g"/3G+" symbol up for longer than the connection lasted. They shouldn't, this isn't cricket but some do. I'm 99% sure the SF shows current status of connection, I'm playing with one here and it's flicking up and down correctly - maybe you had a lot of background sync going on?

Gmail sync sometimes needs a handset reset after first time credential setup RobNut - a slightly odd bug I've seen a few times on Android testers.

Looks like no replacement phone is being delivered today as promised.

I always thought Vodafone were meant to have excellent customer service? Seems pretty shoddy so far.

Just received a s2 as an upgrade from my desire. Only issue i am having is that my gmail is not pushing? anyone else having trouble?

have you set it up for Exchange active sync?

I dont use the gmail app i just use the standard e-mail app on mine as it shows all my mail boxes :)

Just set the e-mail app to Exchange Active Sync

Username=your e-mail
password=yourpassword (duh!)
Server=m.google.com

Just out of curiosity was just using my SG2 at my parents house (terrible area for reception) and it just said 'G' at the top when I was browsing the internet (veeeeery slowly) what does this mean?

Never seen mine go to H+ and I have been all over London with it. Does the SGS2 support it? H+ is the upto 40MB+ service that only some handsets support right?

I've been in London today from Mayfair, Hillingdon and a few other places and I've had H+ more than once at one of these locations. Even in Essex (near Southend) I get such.

I will keep a closer eye on it. Unless I use the phone for some sort of data it always sits on 3G (which seems normal, based on a Myshra's posts further above).

I guess I could have been in such areas and not known as I have not tried to access the internet. Also I am on Orange, not sure if they support these higher speeds.

It drops to 3G by default until something requests more data, then it goes to H or H+ is available.

Saves power, minimises global warming and probably saves the life of a child in a 3rd world country*

*maybe.

I'm with 3 myself and I always got H everywhere but at least it was stable. 3 have now upgraded their network and all over the place I get H+ but it is very unstable. Had speedtest.net show I can get 5Mb down / 1.5Mb up on H+ but that's when it works.

I just started work in Moorgate yesterday. As soon as I get paid I'm jumping ship from 3 because this is what I have to put up with:

Just double check account settings that it's set to sync.

All this ISP/network chat, we have a thread here :) http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18276841

Yeah, Three are the only people with a H+ network, although I honestly don't see a difference in speed tests when I have it...
