****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

You think it's hard to carry round a spare battery, fully charged?

I guess if you have to use it every day it's harder, but yes, many come with separate chargers.

For me it's a safety net. Charge once, swap over maybe every fortnight, but otherwise sit in my locker/drawer in case I need it.

What is the best way of transferring some music on to the phone? Is the samsung Kies software worth installing?

I have just plugged it in to my computer for the first time, and can access the folders on the phone. I presume I can just drag and drop music files on to the phone? where should I be placing my music files? I cant see any pre-existing music folder, shall I just create one?

(Sorry for the stupid questions, i am coming from an iphone so I am used to doing everything via itunes)

Unlike the iphone where you pretty much had to write to Steve Jobs for permission to put stuff on there that didn't come from Apple, you can just drag and drop and the phone will do the rest.

He doesn't mean it's hard to carry round a charged battery, he means that if you're charging the spare battery in the actual phone you have to remember to take out the old full battery and recharge the flat battery as well.

You can get chargers for just the battery though Robbo, iirc I rememer Kreeeee saying he had one since he had 2 batteries (and was then wanting to get rid of it along with his batteries when the 2kmAh battery was announced).

Edward - As others have said just put your music/photos/videos anywhere on the phone and the relevant apps will pick them up. This was something that annoyed me at first since I had sounds and pics from a gameloft game showing in my gallery and music player, then I found out that you could stop the apps showing them by creating a file called ".nomedia" in the folder which contains the audio/images/video :).

Yeah, I know. If you can't do that, you've got much bigger issues is what I'm saying.

WIFI is never turned off on mine & it lasts easily a day if used in a medium fashion. If I keep 3G/H on all the time then battery life dies a lot quicker so I only turn that on when I need it when I am out & about.

Lets put it this way it is the screen on the SGSII that causes the most drain :)

Solved

I do love my portable battery charger, but... the spare battery does have the advantage of almost instant back to 100%. The portable charger requires a slight bit of foresight and planning, which isn't always possible.

(Honestly I'm not just following your posts and trying to disagree! ;) lol)

Have the CM nightlies fixed the Bluetooth audio streaming or HD video recording?

I don't think so although I had no issues with the video or camera.

Anyone on KI3 based stuff noticed that the charging animation has changed for the little battery at the top (atleast when the battery is full and can't "fill up")? The lightning icon on the battery fades in and out now. Atleast I hope it does and that it isn't actually a sign that my USB port is breaking and the lightning is disappearing because it thinks it's unplugged/plugged in repeatedly :p. It seems to be charging fine so I guess it's new, or I just missed it before.

cm7 nightly 65.

do you wipe inbetween nightlies btw? I didn't going from nightly 64 yesterday..

Have a look at what the updates do, it's such a huge waste of time to wipe between most of the releases.

Still looking to sell it but not gotten around to it yet. Official spare battery and slim charger.

This is driving me up the wall. when I get a text message my phone vibrates but no sound will alert me. During a call I can hear the message alert saying i got a message. But I hear no sound when my phone is idle...any got any ideas? been through the settings.

Open the message app and look in the settings there to enable the notification and select a ringtone. You can change the notification volume from settings --> Sound

When I first got my SGS2 I can remember that the stock text messaging APP was customisable, now after an update on Kies I can't see any settings for this? You could change the text bubbles colours etc. before, but not any more. I'm on KF4.

Any ideas guys? It's driving me mad!!!

I do do, but I still never know whether to wipe or not, which is a pita tbh.
