****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

OK....

Plus the battery is awful compared to the iP4, no matter what ROM/Kernel combo i used... :(

Not for me, using VillainROM and Ninphetamine Kernel I get the same battery life I used to get out of my iPhone 4 - ie two days with moderate use. Loving it.

Are we supposed to be impressed that a phone with less than half the performance of another has slightly better battery life?

If it's that much of problem get the Samsung extended battery.

Really? I'm surprised at you tbh.

Mind you, define 'instructed it to'. If you install an app, you're instructing it to function how it is intended, in which case, he's probably instructing it to do a lot.

This is a big difference to Apple I believe (and a good one, IMO) that all sorts can go on behind the scenes.

Well, the main drain of the battery at idle is things syncing or, if you have a poor signal and have wifi off, mast searching.

Surely it's not a good thing if the phone is doing things you don't want it to do and causing the battery to drain more rapidly than normal.

As a quick example, if you've set your e-mail to sync every 15 minutes, that's going to use battery. Most people have e-mail syncing and don't turn it off overnight.

Lots of apps wont know what time it is and whether you'll want it to do what it does... that's all I'm saying.

Turn data off overnight and see what difference it makes.

Some apps monitor things within the phone though, these will use battery regardless of connection state.

I know that. I suppose the person in question may consider email syncing as 'doing nothing' in which case he's obviously incorrect.

The battery is one area that the Galaxy S2 destroys the iPhone in my opinion. I always have a spare fully charged - it used to be a complete nightmare when I had forgotten to charge my iPhone overnight and was then going out for the whole day. It was a massive annoyance. This problem disappeared once I got my Desire (and now SGS2) and a spare battery and I really wouldn't want to go back to a phone without an easily removeable battery.

Well yes, if you factor in the removable battery there isn't much of a contest at all. Still, you could just carry one of those battery pack things to remedy that problem.

cm7 nightly 65.

do you wipe inbetween nightlies btw? I didn't going from nightly 64 yesterday..

I wipe the dvcache or whatever its called.. no need to full wipe between although since build 39 I have an issue where it force closes after a phone call. Tried full wipe but it comes back. Not sure what it is. So having a break and trying lighting at the min.

I do love my portable battery charger, but... the spare battery does have the advantage of almost instant back to 100%. The portable charger requires a slight bit of foresight and planning, which isn't always possible.

(Honestly I'm not just following your posts and trying to disagree! ;) lol)

Have the CM nightlies fixed the Bluetooth audio streaming or HD video recording?

You have to have the foresight to have charged your spare battery in advance and have it with you, though.

Yeah right. I hate you. Go away!

:p

What is the best way of transferring some music on to the phone? Is the samsung Kies software worth installing?

I have just plugged it in to my computer for the first time, and can access the folders on the phone. I presume I can just drag and drop music files on to the phone? where should I be placing my music files? I cant see any pre-existing music folder, shall I just create one?

(Sorry for the stupid questions, i am coming from an iphone so I am used to doing everything via itunes)
