Having turned AA on low and shadows to low the stuttering has stopped due to VRAM running out. Here are my settings:

The game runs at around 90fps constant :) The only problem is by having shadows on low they look jagged and rubbish, but it doesn't affect the gameplay so I'm not that bothered.

How do you get vram to show in the top left? I assume after burner? I dont have vram as an option.

What the **** were they thinking with putting this retarded browser based server browser in? 1st you have to download Origin, then on top of that some crappy browser plug in to be able to even get into a game, and half the time it's giving me some random connection error.

I've taken Steam for granted all these years I swear.

Origin is actually *****. It's hopelessly broken in Opera also which does nothing but **** me off.

Also, why is BF3 as broken as BC2 when it comes to working IN THE CORRECT DAMN REFRESH RATE?!

Caspian = Awesome.

Spawned in a jet and then proceeded to crash it :D.

Running medium settings here @ 1280x960 (Crt, before anyone asks, not changing util oled makes an apperance).

Bit of an fps drop when close to explosions and also when looking right over the battlefield, but only on a couple areas, so not sure if it's a bug or not.

Changing settings didn't really seem to do too much, so think my 955 might be limiting it. Still playable though and fun :).

Did you ever think it was actually going to look like the youtube videos?

Cant you remember the crysis video where it looked lke almost real vietnam war.

It still looks good, there are some nice lighting effects and i like the bullet sounds. All this doesnt really matter though, as it just doesnt seem as 'precise' and tactical as BF2

There is missing a few bits here and there, some nice colour grading, etc, and then there is this. The Crysis video was just promo, IIRC it was never taunted as in-play gaming, but even in-game it was stunning on Very High. Everything we saw about this was 'in-game'. Now either Ultra is actually disabled and there is more to come in the final release, or this is a different game to what they got those videos from. It doesn't just look like a less tarted up version, it looks absolutely nothing like it at all. The main thing for me from the video which I can't make out from screen shots is the character animation, when they ran they actually looked glued to the floor. Is this the same in the beta or was that just pre-baked animation for the video?

I'll wait to play it to make a proper judgement, I was just passing comment on what I'd seen in here :)

Remember how much frames increased in Bad company 2 beta to the final retail, it was quite a lot so hopefully those of use on cards like a single 5850 can get smooth constant frames on medium and some high settings.

Origin wouldn't let me pre-order BF3.

And now it's not letting me install the Beta once it's downloaded.

I really hope I don't have to go through Origin for installing it when I get the disc.

ive just had a 4-hour gaming session with a mate of mine

i7 2600 + h50 with push pull GT's was aaround 60 degrees, 40% load

5850 1GB at ULTRA settings with NO AA was lovely and fluid, never went above 70 degrees :D

i have never played battlefield, but ive played many COD games and i can conclude - BF3 is everything COD isnt - BF3 is FANTASTIC!

i was in a firefight and was at 20% health and a medic ran past and threw my a health pack! SWEET! that is SO cool! i was instantly revived, the medic got points and we were back in business! :D :D :D

i also LOVE how the launcher is incorporated into the browser, i can just do my normal thing whilst waiting for the game to load/wait in the queue!

i also love how you move around the map and transition from above ground to overground - GENIUS!

i have not yet grasped the medic/support/engineer thing becuase i am used to Create-a-Class

Going into it, i was very tempted to say that it wasnt for me - but WOW - what a GREAT game!

where is best to preorder this guys?

Operation Metro such a poor map, literally spawning in peoples scopes.

Had 2 very short games, defending died 7 times in a row, attacking got 7 kills in a row.

Very very bad map, no idea why they would use it in the Beta.. it's hardly a good first impression.

Also, nice to see 3D spotting gone.

Well I have the joy of being able to login to EA's website fine (I signed up for an account when I bought BC2). Yet when I use those same login details on origin I get "password invalid format". Just sent a support ticket to them.
