BF3 Beta FPS thread

No, I maxed everything up to ultra IIRC. My resolution is 1920x1200. I'll take a screenshot if you want. I'd say try playing with the anti-aliasing. As has been said already here it may be worth it to tone those down (you won't see much difference), which I have done too so maybe that's the difference.
I think the real test will be the final game, hope the 570 and its 1 gig of VRAM will be enough to really max things out (then again I am not too bothered, it'll still look great).

1) Take a screenshot of your in-game video settings menu after you restart the game if you have made any changes to it.

2) Run Fraps benchmark for 300 seconds (5 min) when the round starts and for the second time when it gets to the underground stage.

3) Post minimum/maximum/average fps.

I'm afraid most people don't know how to measure the fps in games.

Fair enough, and I'm new to Fraps myself, just trying to post my experience.

Here are my settings:

Then for 2) and 3) I looked at the Excel files it generates under Benchmarks. I got 41 lowest, 62 highest, 50.904 average for indoors.
And 47, 57, 50.078 average outdoors.

There may have been some overlap as otherwise the difference would be more I suppose but you get the idea...

This is less than I expected as the numbers in the top left seems to remain around 58-60 but then again when things get heated I probably just don't look at it.

Got some game time on my system

GTX285 is doing well considering.

i7 2600K @ 4.5GHz
GTX285

1920x1200, Auto Settings - Playbale but a little jittery, between 30 and 40FPS
1680x1050, Auto settings - Perfectly smooth and playable, 40-55 FPS

Have we discovered yet whether this game is more CPU or GPU performance based?

Are we looking at better performance from either upgrading your CPU or, for example, buying a second 580 for SLI?

GPU like a mofo. It's very efficient with GTX 580s in SLi using 98-99% constantly.

Ok, on a similar note, do we know whether the game can use more than 4 cores on a CPU? So for example, would an upgrade from a Phenom II 955 to a Phenom II hex core be worth the performance increase? Providing you could get it at a decent price.

Lets for arguments sake, your running 580s in SLI so you can't really go any further graphics card wise.

Also anyone noticed it s far smoother at 1680 rather than at 1920?

About 20-30 fps on ultra with a lot of AA, borderline playable just because it's very pretty! If I drop it to auto settings (mid-high mostly it seems to think) it becomes between 35-50 I think, either way very playable just not quite as gorgeous.

i5 2500k @ 4.6, 8gb ram and a stock 6970.

2560x1440 that is.

Not tried yet, will give it a try tonight, it runs very smooth obviously if it is running in that small minimized window so hopefully it might be a bit better.

I was having stuttering issues with this game, when running 2 x 6870s, I found the issue :|

Like an idiot, I had installed the 32bit version of Windows 7, with 64bit beta drivers (dont know how they installed...), when to try to downgrade drivers to a previous version, prompted me that I didn't have a 64 bit OS.

Now running 64bit win 7 with intel i5 2500k @ 4ghz and 2x 6870s, running at mostly ultra, but no AA and a couple on high, looks awesome, runs at 60-80fps outside, 80-100 inside :) and no stuttering!

@Beasty
I'm wondering what you are planning to do, as you're kinda in the same boat as me, you play at 2560x1440, got a good graphics card but the FPS are borderline playable...

You just gonna accept the FPS or you gonna upgrade/crossfire? I'm pretty clueless as to what to do. Playing at 1080p is not really an option as I get annoyed by the blurriness... I tried disabling scaling in the drivers but that didn't work out, the driver just crashed...

I guess I'm seeing how much I like BF3 overrall and how other games perform on max @ 2560x1440, if Skyrim for example leaves more to be desired fps wise I'll probably take the punt on crossfire.

Alrighty, probably a good thing to wait for the final release anyway. Think I'm gonna do the same... Maybe SLI GTX 480 if I can find a cheap one... but it's probably best to wait for full game, then see what the scaling benchmarks say

I think I'm limited by my CPU really, a Phenom II 955 at 4Ghz, still getting similar, if not slightly more frame rates as before even with a second 6950 installed.

I'll leave it till final release and see if they manage to improve performance with drivers. If not then a SB will be on the cards I think.

GPU: Gainward GTX570
CPU:2500K @ 4.3GHz
Resolution:1680x1050
Average FPS:50-70 Outdoors, 70-100 Indoors
Driver version:Latest BF3 BETA version

Note: Ambient Occulsion off, as I think it looks better.

Video that I captured the other night (recorded at 25FPS, so no indicative of my real FPS)

Puts up a pretty good fight at that res. Another 6950 should make that very playable once the drivers have been sorted out, maybe even with a few settings set to Ultra.
