****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I OBJECT!

:p

For people like myself, who use Google /everything/, Android is the clear winner. I also like to customise :p I still cannot find using an iPhone4 as a daily phone as useful as I do with my Droid purely because the apps and features I use daily are not available for iPhone because Apple do not approve such apps.

Nothing wrong with Apple's system though, it works, yeah, but it doesn't work for me, is all.

I guess you're talking about MHL stuff, MPCHC remote, google nav etc etc.

I'd still take my sgs2 over an iphone4, but for most people the iphone is better.

Yeah but on top of that, playing emulators/games on the HDTV with a wiimote or six axis controller, being able to browse my LAN directly from a file manager app, manage files to and from the phone with other computers on the LAN, turn my phone into an FTP server, turn my phone into a managed access point and so on. Controlling how the web browser is seen by websites, using different keyboards and so on and so forth.

Also here's the battery life on Modaco's GR5 ROM with the extended battery. This is the first full charge I have given it since Friday and I have used it for virtually everything. Modaco ROMs also suck more juice than any other ROM, I notice the Android OS bug is not fixed in GR5 regardless of what kernel I use.

I will try another ROM soon enough but so far I have gotten better battery life even on this ROM than with the stock battery given how I use the phone. Will be very interested in seeing how it fares then.

Ignore the little charge at the bottom, that was last night when I plugged it into the PC to run the Monday evening backup, USB doesn't charge it very fast anyway so would not skew the above results at all.

Upgraded the firmware yesterday and the battery life has increased by a big margin. Normally at the end of the day (from 8AM to 5.30PM) the battery is around 60% but today it's at 81%.

The phone also seems smoother so definitely a good firmware update.

Any more info? Which firmware did you upgrade to and from?

no phone calls all day?

I don't use my phone as a phone every single day, I imagine most people are exactly the same given that the majority of comms is either done via social apps, email and in person. The only time I make a call really is when there's something important that cannot wait for a face to face meet or cannot be done via some form of messaging!

Currently running Lite'ning Rom and would like to change it as it seems LitePro has give up or has other issues.

Hoping someone could give me info on the best way to go about it. I have read through various threads on XDA but still unsure. Best way to go from ROM to ROM without losing all my data? If I have to what should I do to save it?

Thanks

Mike

I've just installed LeoMar's 7.1 ROM based on 2.3.5 and so far so good, Dive pack actually works with Dive unlike GingerMod's Dive "Pack" and the ROM is pretty slick and lightweight. The kitchen app is brilliant as well.

Battery monitoring of extended battery is a go!
