guys just realised my £1 ebay car charger is 5.7v 800mah.. I know the mah is ok, as it'll just charge slower, but am I frying my phone by putting 5.7v into it?

Go into application management and clear the data/cache.

If your phone is rooted you make your own with the ASOP kitchen, i'll toss up a link whn i get home if your google foo is weak.

na be fine, i have been using one since i got this phone on release, mine will not even charge, its just maintains the battery :D

i spent 3 hours using satnav on tuesday, i left with 84% battery when i arrived i was on 86% :D
 
Tethering ?

I just got my phone a couple of days ago so I've yet to try this, so no idea how it works. :confused:

I'm going to London by train next week with the family and wouldnt mind having wifi on the way. Can I buy wifi and then set up the phone so my daughters laptop can also use the same wifi connection at the same time as me ?

yes if the train offers that service. you need to setup tethering. settings>wireless & network>tethering and portable hotspots.

i belive it will tether whatever the phone is using 3g or wifi, saying that i have only ever tethered 3g, but i presume it works in that manor. but if you are buying a wifi code then just use it on the laptop??

if we are on about the same thing. If you mean you want your daughter to hook off your phones 3g on the train, it will depend on signal, but you use the same as above.

So when tethering is set up I can use the phone as normal on wifi but the laptop can also go through the phone ?
 
I don't think you can. When you try and share by wifi it forces you to disconnect from the network you're on so that it can be used to share.

You might be able to tether by bluetooth though if the laptop has it or if you buy a bluetooth dongle.

yes that should work. you could always test at home. connect your phone to wifi, turning off 3g. then tether to another device like your laptop and see how it goes.
 
Why make it so complicated?

Connect to WiFi with your phone, plug USB cable into phone and laptop, enable USB tethering.

You can't connect to more than 1 AP simultaneously, so not sure how you expect WiFi tethering to work when connection to a WiFi access point Jim.
 
It has arrived :) really liking the white compared to my wife's black one.

I've also got the white one :) It's nice but the white mesh case I got off ebay is not as nice as the official black mesh case that my dad has on his black S2.

Might sell it and buy the extended battery + back cover instead hmmmm.
 
The white one looks nice but loses one core visual aspect the lack one has, the screen itself blending into the phone so it looks like the screen never ends!
 
Since the topic was on tethering just a few posts ago (and has now turned to Lie's mrs' sexual appetites :p) i just have a quick question was hoping you guys could help me out with.

I want to be able to tether my phone to my laptop with Wifi and use my phones 3g connection to browse the internet on my laptop.

Problem is i can't get it to work. If i tether via USB it works perfectly however.

If i tether via wifi my laptop connects to the phone fine, and i can still use the internet on the phone fine, but the network icon says "limited access" on the laptop and web pages will not load.

Can anyone shed some light on what i'm doing wrong? I'm on 3's unlimited internet package on my phone which allows tethering.
