X-Factor 2011

Even as someone who'd like her to win, I must admit I winced a bit when she said that. It sounded too prepared... or at the very least, painfully clichéd. But then she is very young, and may not realise just how well trodden that path is.

I also balance that with her reaction after the second audition, when she was asked how she thought she'd done. "I don't want to say my opinion, but I liked their reaction" was a very natural and endearing reply. Which is why it went down well with everyone there. That kind of nature and the voice are a powerful package.

If I'm honest, I think she could walk this, whether she wears shoes or not. She appeals to such a wide demographic that the others are always going to be playing catch-up unless she has some really bad weeks.

I say weeks because she could easily survive one really bad week on the sympathy vote. Only the fact that she's a clear favourite among the judges is against her. Brits love an underdog. :-)

Mind you, I have a long history of picking losers, so I should probably be sticking up for Johnny instead.

All that would be lovely, if it wasnt what she was told to say, you get two or three every year that they want to get through, you cant blame them, its a lot of money to throw away on someone and them end up like Michele McManus, they are heavily coached from the very begining to make sure they say just the right things, act just the right way, the judges tell them they were incredible week in week out despite how badly they performed, and they save them each and every time they get put in the sing off no matter how awful they were.
The Irish lass is young, fairly pretty and sweet she will look fantastic on album covers and videos, but her singing is weedy, and gasping, the accent is over powering and I suspect, when it actually comes to singing something she cant get away with winding down to a soft Oirish lullaby she will be left struggling.

Janet just reminds me of that lass on last years finals. She is exactly the same. Soft annoying voice, same appearance, I don't think she will win but hey all the other contestants seem poor to mediocre so she might be alright then.

All that would be lovely, if it wasn't what she was told to say.

I may be naive, or suffering from early onset dementia, but I'm not sure the manipulation goes quite that far.

Put it this way, given that anything's possible in TV land, you may be right. But I don't care. To coin a phase from the dim, distant past when big brother was vaguely intriguing... it's only a game show! :-)

Of course if Janet's that well coached and still manages to give the impression of spontaneity under the spotlights in front of a big crowd after a stressful performance, then she deserves to win for her acting skills. So I'm cool either way.

Urgh... I said cool. I'm never cool, only tepid.

This, however, is my most recent musical discovery, and it is definitely cool...

I have to say that at this stage, there are not any contestants which stand out.
I think as the show progresses, there shall be improvements.

Last year I stated that the most marketable contestant was Cher Lloyd.
This year, if I had to choose who to market (in order to maximise single/album/concert ticket sales), I would pick 'The Risk'.

IMO the solo artists are all pretty weak, with the exception of the fat lady (I'm not sure what her name is). The problem with her though, is that you will struggle to make money out of her.

I was watching the XFactor USA the other day and I tell you what, pretty much all the singers on there are better than all of the XFactor UK candidates. The USA version also has a 14 year old rapper, who was amazing - his timing is scary.

And the best part, unlike the wimps who embarrass themselves with fake tears, this kid doesn't cry and delivers a great performance every time.

It's irritating that all the groups who are left in were all made up of rejected soloists. I hate how they do that now - only the groups that they themselves put together have got through to the finals (apart from 2 Shoes obv).

Also irritating is the crying. Oh, dear lord, the crying.

And the ad break after practically every contestant.

And I cringe every time Louis says something like, "150% yes," or "1000% yes!" GRR NOT MATHEMATICALLY POSSIBLE!

Yeah, I really am better off not watching it :D

Are you gay?
How does a woman FORCE you to watch it?
Grow some balls and just admit that it's entertainment and you enjoy it.

Anyway, I think Janet is crap.

Lol touchy.

I say forced but perhaps guilt tripped is better, work away occasionally and when I get back from them weeks she wants me to "spend time with her" translated as watch x factor rather than go on the computer which is my normal reaction to her reality show time.

I enjoy the odd moments when the judges **** people off but the rest is cringeworthy as most of them are pub singers at best.

Hmm, I think no matter how badly he sings they will keep frankie in as "nu vibe" are nowhere near as good as the other group.
