Not in the IT industry, but my job involves a lot of IT Admin-esque roles and a fair bit of coding and development work.

Core Banking Software development

IBM Midrange since 1986 :(

PC repairs on the side

I don't enjoy it as much as i once did.. Too many all-in-one off the shelf solutons out there.

I "am" IT!

Internal SysAdmin for the entire UK side of the company, maintaining Exchange 2003, Server 2008 R2, our own BES (Express) and SQL Server. I enjoy it, my line manager hinted at a quakelive setup soon when we shift some workstations around my office :p

Also it's very flexible, I can just pop home if there's n emergency and nobody is on my case if I'm stuck in traffic and end up 15mins late a few times in one week.

I've been in far worse positions in other companies in the past!

Corporate IT support 2nd-3rd. Currently supporting 50 people site by myself. I work for large IT managed services company that specializes in legal IT and software solutions. If there are big projects then my boss and other people will/can get involved. A lot of third party support contracts as well. So i don't do everything.

Brilliant!

*Elevates your internet privileges for a week* ;)

I got lucky in the jobs I've found over the years as they offered excellent experience (even if some of them were filled with rubbish management) and were with leaders in their respective fields although progression was slow (if at all) so I've been moving on after 2-3 years with each place. My current place of almost 2 years did have a downturn last year and Q1 and 2 of this year with redundancies going round but things seem to be on the up from Q4 onwards....we will see how things progress :p

Work in IT, just a Techy in a school at the moment supporting everything and administrating the website / VLE.

Sucks really, no idea what I want to be doing

Specialise in IBM Infrastructure based around Pseries servers, virtualization, IBM Enterprise storage arrays and Tivoli Storage Manager. Currently look after 60Tb Storage, backup around 7Tb a night.... quite a small IT Operation at this company.
