EDIT2 got it its a tough run and jump, treasure is the Iato

The Iiato is my weapon of choice. I've now got it upgraded to a +3 Lightning Iiota and it deals some real damage. Keep of hold of this bad boy.

my drake sword is now +3 i cant see it being better surely? my next sword was gonna be the quelaag fury sword upgrade a falchion i have to +10 and boom heard it can deal 500 and up to over 800

I've got the quelaag fury sword and my +3 Lightning Iiota is better.

Base stats:

Drake Sword: Base Dmg: 200
Quelaag's Fury Sword +5 ~ Base Dmg: 90 Fire Dmg: 270
Iiota Lightning + 5 ~ Base Dmg: 242 Electric Dmg: 246 and Bleed ~ Bleed build up is 33% per hit and once bleed takes (3 successive hits) it takes off 30% enemies total hp.

Reading all this made me realise WHY i'm struggling. All i have is the Lightning Spear +1 and to be honest it ain't that powerful at all in Anor Londo thus far.

I also need a much better shield than this Spider shield.
Going to have to do some item farming, or soul farming to buy the materials etc.

In Demon's Souls I had a better weapon than this after 2 hours...i'm like 25 hours into Dark Souls. lol

Lightning Spear isn't too bad... It's 160 base dmg and 160 lightning dmg. +1 is what 170/170?

I'm still struggling with shields. I've got a +3 Hollow Soldier Shield but I keep thinking there must be something better...

Get a crystal shield (seems to last quite a while for me)

or Dragoncrest shield. (same dragon u get astora sword from)

OR the Eagle shield reason why is because you just need usual titanite stuff to upgrade it (v easy) but for dragoncrest and crest shield you need the quite rare twinkling titanite. Its annoying because theres a fair few weapons that only upgrade with the twinkling titanite.

I got the Iaota sword but i did +5 then changed it to Divine +3 i think maybe i shouldve put it to +10 normal? What does divine actually do except seem to add magic damage?

Wow, just explored the Ash Lake. It's easily one of the coolest areas I've ever seen in a game, the music makes it awesome as well.

Damn I'm getting absolutely destroyed by guys in the lower burge :(

Theif SL21 and I've been mainly putting points into str and endurance. Getting wiped out by the capra demon in one shot :(

Any tips?

Try to run up the stairs behind him and then to the right on to an archway. He can't get you there easily so you should have time to regroup and if you have Soul Arrows or anything else ranged you can take him out from up there.

yeah but u do it without and they come back about 1 sec after they go down!

Yep, I just battled all the way through with a normal weapon, really tough.

Managed to get through to the Tomb of the Giants where its pitch black (can't see a thing unless its right in front of your feet) and full of GIANT skeletons! That's just not Cricket! :D

Well, I finally got round to playing a bit more last night, and made some real progression.

I turned back from trying to go into that town below the depths, headed back up, right to the starting firelink(?) bonfire.

Then made my way to Haval. Got naked (naughty!), took 4 deaths to get him, by then I had farmed a nice 3k souls so I wasn't grumbling, finally took him down, the ring has made my heavy armour wearing, sword swinging, magic throwing lunatic agile as a slug with wings. So not agile at all, but much better than before!

Then I farmed the dragon kills (sleeping at the bonfire below the bridge, up the stairs, nip out on the bridge for a split second, dragon comes down and kills the guys, giving you 300 souls. Takes 20 seconds per run and is a nice little mini farm. I had about 15k souls before starting this due to a huge amount of soilder souls.

Then FINALLY, after losing 34k souls, I had 20k souls, went back to the blacksmith, bought the forest gardens key, unlocked and started farming, my god you get a lot of souls very quickly!

I went from 32 to 35 in about 15 mins!!!

Will do it tonight until I am 45 I think. Only putting points into END and STR for the moment.

Good job.

I'd recommend you save some souls for upgrading your favourite weapon and armour too.

I'm only level 51 and I'm quite a way through the game now. So you're probably ready for ... what's up next for you?

I'm going to hit the catacombs today and try and get 4 levels so I can get my Int high enough for the light spell ready for tomb of giants :gulp:

edit: and I've had to do the whole game without Havels ring :grrr: he fell off the walkway just outside his tower so I could never get it.

Where are you guys getting these cool wepons? I'm still using the bog standard drake sword, nothing special but its working well for me.

Should I look at starting to upgrade some standard wepons to get them fire / lightning / whatever?

I decided to finally use some of my shards that ive been hording i upgraded my Dark knight greatsword to +2 and it now sits on 245dmg.

Also to note, I gave the smithy just before the forest another ember... But still not sure why he wants them?

I have fully done the following areas (inc bosses and loot):

Undead Burgh
Undead Parish
Darkroot Garden (only just unlocked the stone door area though for farming)
Lower Undead Burg
The Depths

No idea where to go next to be honest. More than likely darkroot basin, but first I will farm up to 45/50. Then further farm for souls and titanites (or what ever they are called) from the slimes in the hallway down in the Depths :)

Once I have done the above, I will move on. Just like Demon Souls, I prefer being overpowered for a area than underpowered lol.

Prob do the farming stuff tonight. Should only take a couple of hours.
