I'm exactly the same :) There's something very cathartic about knowing you actually have the game on your hard drive already. I bought my system just for this game, so another tenner is hardly going to kill me. I like the peace of mind knowing I can play it the moment it's available.

Same here my new rig was got just for this game so had the gamr pre-ordered from feb :D

I'm a stingy fella, so I will be picking up my copy at Game to save £10, even though the bus fare is £2...

How much are you getting it for there? I asked someone in the store and he said it was likely to be £40.

Just spotted the Gadget Show advertising the next Gadget Show Live convention thingy. 'Twould be awesome if they took the BF3 simulator with them!

not sure if its been mentioned much as im guessin it wasnt working in the betas but this part in the readme

This product may include in-game sponsorships or product placements.

I think i remember on metro we had billboard type hoardings with BF3 stuff in them, so im guessing they were placeholders for mass in game advertising to get thrown in at release.

I remember when quake wars came out you would have gillette adverts etc.

If its done mildly it can add to immersion, i mean for a map like metro seeing advertising billboards will seem normal, but if your driving around in Caspian and come across (bad choice of words) a huge tampax advert whatcha gonna dooooo!

My answer would be to demolish it with a tank but we all know advertising billboards will not be destructable.

I just hope they handle it right and that every map doesnt have lots of in game advertising.

I spotted a few posters with generic "new smartphone" ads and thought the same. It seemed pretty sparse and discrete, so as long as it stays that way it might not be so bad. Still irritating though.

I dont mind advertisements kinda gives game a good i geuss you can say real vibe. but like you said when they plaster it on EVERY bill board its pretty tedious! If they have a good mix though of Non fiction and Fiction ads it could work well!

But just please dont place Lynx ads, Pepsi ads or Doritos.

lol seems they have seen the error in their preload files

Had this in my email

Tempting but i work for a huge pc retailer, i'd imagine competition will be fierce on launch day so i'm sure they'll be competitive and i can also get my 10% discount.

Also don't trust any sort of delivery, booked 4 days off work for this and i need it in my possession on the day.

lol. i said to my wife a couple of days ago bf3 is getting released this next week and the look in her eyes was.... (premeditated comes to mind) im going to have to watch my back whilst on it i reckon
