Massive difference in the new CPU/RAM/Mobo I got today on Battlefield. I read recently that the game isn't CPU bound and there wasn't that much difference between dual core and quad... totally not the case!

E8400, 4GB DDR2: 30 - 60 on "High" with no MSAA and medium shadows
i5 2500k, 8gb DDR3: 55+ on the default "Ultra"

Both have the same graphics card / drivers.

Performance graphs:

Old CPU/RAM
New CPU/RAM

Happy :D

Gotta remember that the bench saying it's not cpu bound were comparing it running on various amounts of cores on the i7 and not C2D's against i7's :)

Well it would be against the t and c's to use modified code. They would maybe ban your cdkey and make you buy another game/cdkey. People would as well, just not worth the risk of shelling out another £30 to play it again lol

doubt it with how hard they are trying to make people lime origin

Ahh, gotcha, I thought it was more like i3 DC vs. i5 / i7 quad... my memory is a bit foggy, getting old :p

Is anyone else really struggling to be any "good" at this, I never played BF2, I was reasonably ok at BF:BC2 (average 0.7k k/d ratio) but i'm just getting raped on this...loving it all the same though :D

Kills 456
Deaths 265
K/D Ratio 1.721

Probably not as good as some people on here, but its good enough for me.

(almost entirely achieved on Bronken-Gaming. Awesome Server)

You can now play online without Origin for legit buyers of the game thanks to Razor1911:

It is odd that anybody would trust a hacking group over EA. I know there is a lot of criticism of Origin and its "spyware" but EA are a company that is answerable to forms of regulartion. Razor 1911 are not.

I see Origin as a simpler version of Steam, which I find clunky and bloated. I find it faster at its primary role: a download manager. Is it evil? Does it eat babies? I dunno, but I wont trust 1911 over it.

Just learn the maps and enjoy, it gets easier after a while and you'll discover some nice guns (I just unlocked the RDS on the G36C, what a great gun this is). I don't give a damn about my stats, which are similar to your BFBC2 ones. I love to play for the objective even if it means I get killed a lot. Very often I spawn on a team mate advancing for the objective, only to be shot straight away because he happened to be shot while I am spawning. Then it's time to take a step back and be a medic right behind the front line, reviving team mates (more satisfying on hardcore mode though).
