Sonic Generations

Well, I went into Game today and they had Generations on one of the booths. I had a good blast on it and then came home tonight and.... Bought Sonic 4!

Generations just felt like a mashed together mess of bits of the last 20 years (which is what it was designed to be), but I've never been a fan of 3d Sonic games. Sonic 4 is simply great :). I wish he accelerated a little faster, but other than that, I love it :)

I thought Sonic 4 was ok but not that great, i personally think Generations is better than Sonic 4 but each to their own:)
 
Still not got this :( Preordered from GAME online, it got dispatched the day after release date...and still isn't here!

About a day later amazon had sold out. Shopto had some go up a few weeks back and again after about a day they had also sold out. Lot of sonic fans out there it would seem :)

It was from GAME. As mentioned in that thread, it's £39.99 in my local store having spoke with them on the phone, madness!

The limited edition contains a theme, a avatar super sonic costume, and something else.

The limited edition has a statue and some other bits and bobs that looks epic but it's a lot of money but I'm guessing there will be a die-hard niche it appeals to.

I got it this morning for the same price but think mine is just the plain vanilla version... (shall see when it turns up)

What Konvict said, limited edition I think is the 'vanilla' in that respect, and the CE stuff comes with some awesome goodies. I'd display the sonic statue proudly and not give a damn :D
 
I just want the Gold ring that comes with it :( I'd be mightly tempted to get one if I had the money now though.

I'm hoping my vanilla is actually a LE copy then shall wait and see what Mr Rain Forest give me.
 
Is it actually any good?

I read a few reviews and whilst good it wasn't amazing.

I'm a classic Sonic man myself, I still replay Sonic 1/2/3/3+ Knuckles. Is it like those?

I actually wasn't that keen, and i'm a huge fan of the classic Sonic games.

It's an improvement on what we've been given lately, but the bad habits of the Sonic Team are still present.

- It's a right faff to get to the bosses. You have to do all the levels and then collect keys via random challenges that mean going back into the levels again.

- The screen still gets very cluster****y when you're playing. I loved how clean the original Sonics felt while you were playing, how you could run at speed and still feel in control. In SG I just don't feel the same about it, I regularly make mistakes simply because the game starts throwing me around and I can't see where i'm going.

- The 3D bits are still... 3D bits. 'Nuff said there.

- Sonic still doesn't "feel" right in terms of control.

Personally I like it more than Unleashed or STH XBOX360, but it's nowhere near as good as the originals or even dare I say it, Sonic 4.
 
I haven't actually played any of the new Sonic games (apart from demos) because I read such bad things about them all.

You sound like me, I love the feel of the old ones, and this one probably would end up being a disappointment for me.
 
Having played this for most of yesterday evening, It's not a bad little game, especially for £20.

Anyone would be able to pick up and play, it's getting the 'Rank S' on challenges which is a nightmare!

After mucking around just playing through stages/challenges, I got 17/49 achievements with only 1/3 the game complete or so!

To get sonic1 unlocked, you simply need to save some points and buy the 'mega drive controller' from the in-game store, purchased using said points earned doing the stages and challenges.

Uber nostalgia :)
