The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

The sun is setting & it's doing a good impersonation of a Morrowind sky - damned tease!! At this rate I'll be trying to hand a quest in to my wife followed by robbing the bookcase of shinies....

You have failed me for the last time, rainforest retailer...

I expect a 560ti will have no issues running Skyrim at max, heres a snippet from the pc gamer review:

Skyrim is based on tech Bethesda built specially for it, rather than the middleware engine used by Oblivion and Fallout 3. It’s a lean, swift, beautiful thing. New lighting techniques and a fluffy sort of frozen fog give the world a cold sparkle, and the previously puffy faces are sharp, mean and defined. Even load times are excitingly quick. On maximum settings, it runs at 30-40 frames per second on a PC that runs Oblivion at 50-60 – a decent trade off for the increase in scenery porn.

Hahahaahahahhaah at people moaning about not getting the game in time! Buy from steam problem solved! Tight as a ducks ass some are! My skyrim looks amazing in my steam games list!

im running it ultra on a 460gtx with 8xaa and hitting 50fps most of the time but in villages/cities im only getting 35ish fps so ill scale the aa back to 4x.

some of the textures are kinda crap close up though....and the fov doesnt feel right in first person

Hey, I'm collecting game boxes, I will soon have fashioned a chair from all my PC games. It gets painful standing at the desk.

How are you playing it now - are you in Newcastle upon Melbourne?

I wanted the map, complete sucker for maps in games! :( Used to love the GTA maps and have my Witcher 2 map on the wall. Only reason I stuck by Amazon.

Just on the intro scene with everything set as high as they go except AA which is at 4x and only getting 25-40 ish fps on a 460 too. I do have FXAA ticked too though, dunno if that's why.

True, plus the fighting between people in this thread.

Doeas anybody remember the thread started by gareth, the guy who can only play with his chin, that post moved me to actually think about what i do moan about, and real priorities in life. But what moved me the most was the response from you guys on this forum and overclockers staff, that helped and encourage him.

Wonder if he is reading these posts, if you are gareth, hi to you mate.

I have to say, I'm highly likely to use my nectar points to buy it from Amazon as well so I have the map.

Wonder how sellable on the disc will be without the map.

My mates mrs was moaning at him about putting the map up on the wall.
My reply - well she has pictures of her up on the wall and you dont moan about having to look at her.

Properly get her going - put the map up on the wall over her picture!!

I had the same problem. Usually turning off "GX" option in the xonar control panel fixes it. That's the bit that intercepts EAX code an emulates it, but for most modern games you don't even need it.

Just seen this, might help some people that are having problems:

Having finally bothered updating my Xonar Drivers xD - think I've been running XP ones for quite some time, the update for Beth Games working:

Oblivion and FO:NV work - not picky about anything (GX nor sound)
FO:3 GOTYE, is still crashing every time. It crashes worse with GX on, but crashes when it's off as well. Doesn't bother me too much. So long as Skyrim works I'll be happy.

I'm going on the basis I haven't had any issues with the more recent Beth games - NV, Brink, and hoping therefore skyrim works. Well we shall see shan't we xD
