The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

Played it for a couple of hours last night, enjoying it so far. Graphics aren't quite as good as I expected, but good enough - and that's not what I play these games for. (Highly modded Oblivion sets a high bar too).

Got the day off work today, so will settle in with it this afternoon - and on for a long weekend with it.

Useful Info just up. Some info below.

How big is the download through Steam? And how long is it taking people to install from DVD? :o

Well I have a slow USB dvd drive and it took about 12 mins to install from DVD (what the timer said, I just left it so may be faster). You may be able to download it in the same time but it still needs to install after :) The full size including the patch is 5.7gb

Not my cuppa really, I have zero patience and don't have the time to put into games that many of you have. I bought Oblivion when it came out, got bored of that fairly quickly and I felt all the same things with this one as I walked around endlessly talking to people. I'm sure there are hidden depths, I'm sure it's a great game, it's just not my cuppa really. I played for an hour or so and found myself constantly getting into fights as I got bored listening to people and ended up punching them in the face. I fail :(

It's still the GameByro engine, Same ini tweaks... Same console Commands... Same Launcher setup and there are other points which I've explained in an earlier post.

Source has all of these in common with GoldSrc, but I wouldn't call them the same engine.

An evolutionary engine is still a new engine. Why would they do everything from scratch and do everything differently when 90% of the existing code and processes work fine?

My performance is totally terrible. 60 fps on high and it get random parts of low fps and lag but ultra just cripples it. Hopefully AMD release drivers soon!

But loving it. Feels much better than either Oblivion or the Fallouts which never quite hooked me in the same way as Morrowind

Have you tried my VSYNC + DXOverrider Tweak?

Or Vsync off Tweak?

:)

I've got my guys hands set up as: left = heal spell, right = one handed sword. This means I can't block? or can I block? as I can't find a way to do it.

Okay, so I'm in and creating my first Character. Never played a Elder Scrolls game before. Any advice for my first run or websites worth checking out?
