The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

How is the combat animation in Skyrim, is it still clunky like Oblivion? I spent most of Oblivion just spamming the attack button with the fastest blade I could find and hope that I've killed everyone.

Further to my comment some pages back about not being able to use magicka and a weapon at the same time. I've since discovered if you have a signle handed weapon in your right hand and the magicka on your left hand, pressing "block" (RMB) as if holding a shield launches the spell without sheathing your weapon.

I also like the ability to deliver a blast of power rather than short bursts, useful for taking down bandits at range.

forget destruction magic and get some conjurer spells

I like that the Whiterun guards, in reference to conjuration being a tad higher than one-handed, occasionally speak a line calling me "summoner" and asking me to conjure up a bed.

Had one odd moment mid-conversation when I fell through the solid floor to my death :/

Absolutely love the game so far, just hope switching from 48000hz to 44100hz stops my random CTDs.

It's a bit nicer, the sounds are better so you get a better idea that you've made contact.

My character's primarily an Archer and I don't really get into close combat often, even in Dungeons.

I don't feel the need to use magic at all, but feel like I'm missing out on something. Is it worth dropping a few points into Destruction/Conjuration?

I feel a bit guilty sometimes, like I 'should' be using spells every so often

Love the interaction, dropped some old armor unneeded and some drunk guy asked if he could have it :D This is the first one in the series I have played so not sure if it happened before in older ones. Still pretty wicked, 4 Dragons down for me.

Bit of advice,

Im currently level 14 and have spent all my level up`s in Manna and my perks in Destruction and restoration.

Is it too late to turn my mage into more of a battle-mage role? Or am i going to run out of perks? how many do we get anyway, is it 50?

I also wouldnt mind levelling up enchanting a little, but not sure which way to go?!?!

I am experiencing what I suspect is a horrible bug, in the mages quest line.

I am pretty certain that a door is failing to open, when it is supposed to. I can even see where the passage way should continue on my map, but annoyingly it is failing to trigger correctly.

How do I do spoilers? I would like to get some advice from anyone else who has completed the mage quest line.

Spoiler (Can't work out how to use these silly spoiler tags):

Is it the part in the exploration dungeon where you go in with Tolfdir into a circle looking room with a bridge across the middle, and there's a door with 2 gates infront of it?

If it is this, then the TWO gates are important ;)

Still not killed any dwagons :(

Have managed to get a dwagon word though.

What level did people start killing dragons? I'm still level 4 (playing through fairly slowly), so am just wondering, at which point I could look into hunting one without getting my head chopped off...

Also, has anyone else found that you can have about 70-80% health and an enemy can do a finishing move on you and wipe you clean out?

So far I'm through the first proper companion quest and that's about it xD But the enemies finished me with finishing moves twice when there wasn't really anything wrong with my health level both times.... Was slightly annoying, but maybe you have to have below like 70hp or something for them to do it, and it's not as big an issue when you have a higher level health?

How far are you in to the main quest? I've killed my first dragon at level 6 (Did it this morning before coming to work! ;) )

What does trigger the finishing moves? They're very cool but I have no idea what makes them happen  It doesn't consistently seem to be low health/stunned/knocked over, just seems to happen at random.

I think I might have to get this....looks pretty wicked.

Is it same type of gameplay as fallout 3?

As in, its sandbox with a little story thrown in to guide you along?
