****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

You probably press the button twice without realising because you subconsciously think you didn't press it due to the lag.

Removing home button lag alone is enough of a reason to root imo :p.

Maybe. Rooting just seems like a bit of an effort. I got the phone the day after release and it was all still new at the time.

How much time are we talking to do it?

Nah, you just download the CF-Root kernel that matches your firmware from the thread on XDA (although technically any CF-Root kernel should be fine). No need to back anything up when flashing kernels.

There's a proper guide along with download links to Kies and Odin in the CF-Root thread on XDA :).

Srs? Ok, I'll have a look at guides over the weekend.

Honestly, I did it 2 nights ago, it really is a piece of cake. Once you've got over the intitial "OMG am I doing this right" factor, it really takes no time at all. I was left a bit like, "is that it, done already?" :D

I'll dig out a link to the guide I followed, really straightforward.

Is the lag still there when pressing the home button since you removed VLingo that way? I would have thought loads of people would just freeze it rather than using the home button lag fix if it also removed the lag .

Edit: Oh, forgot to add the thread Egon linked is the CF-Root thread I was talking about :).

There is still lag (not an issue for me) that's more to do with the cpu being in deep sleep as far as i know. I got rid of vlingo to get rid of the double tap 'what would you like to do' 'feature'. It drove me insane.

The lag I mean is when you press the home button, not from when waking from deep sleep. It's caused by the phone waiting to see if you press the home button again to open VLingo. It's fixable (and removes the double press ability) by replacing one of the system files.
