What film did you watch last night?

The Shinning 9/10 - A classic and always freaks the hell out of me. Watched the making of documentary for the first time....really funny.

X Men: First Class. Good cast and good effects, but it felt a bit flat because most of the mutants were kinda... lame. I guess this is the 5th film in the franchise, so we've had the exciting ones and the fan favourites, so they're going to be getting pretty low down the list by now, but even so.

Harry Brown - Impressive performance from Michael Caine as a vigilante on a tough London estate. I had seen it compared with Gran Torino but this was much more real and dirty with no father/son relationship just an old man with nothing and hateful youths. 4/5

Last film I watched was Machete, again. IT'S SOOOOOOOO GOOD!

The last 20 minutes of that film is just amazing on so many levels, I had the biggest grin on my face :D

However, don't be tempted to watch Hobo with a Shotgun thinking it's similar. It's more violent and pretty sick, but also completely unfunny thus terrible.

Blitz with Jason Statham - 6/10

Film wasn't bad. Typical Brit film with a Lock Stock feel but without the swagger. Storyline quite confusing with too many characters at the start (which isn't relevant to the overall plot) but some good scenes and think Statham and bad guy Blitz (Aiden Gillen) were well cast.

Wouldn't watch it again but didn't feel I'd wasted 1 1/2 hours afterwards.

Awh. I've been meaning to check that out. I'll know to avoid. Machete is really greater, I hardly ever watch films multiple times but Machete is one you can just go back to time after time. It's so great.

TT - Closer to the edge.

Basically a film-documentary following the expoits of riders during the 2010 Isle of Man TT races. Stunning visuals in 1080p, still find it incredible how 'normal' these guys (and girl) are when not lapping a 37 mile country road circuit at 130 mph average.

Well worth watching 9/10

Just got back from seeing Moneyball, absolutely fantastic film about sport that doesn't actually show much sport and isn't packed full of cliches. Brad Pitt really shows what a good actor he is too.

How was the screenplay? I pretty much drool over everything Aaron Sorkin writes, so I'm anticipating this to be fantastic purely based on that. Trailer came across well.

Just watched it myself, even though as a TT fan I knew the 'ending' it was still edge of the seat stuff, very entertaining! - 9/10

The Fighter - 6/10

Borrowed off a friend... The whole way through I couldn't help thinking 'Raging Bull' was better. Not too bad though... Bale once again picking parts that involve losing a load of weight... He's not bad in this though.

You mean when he's not picking roles that involve bulking up? What's that got to do with anything? He's picking roles and he's great in them, never mind his weight.

Woah there! :p Didn't mean to step on your mancrush!

I didn't say he was a bad actor or that losing weight affected his acting. Just saying he lost weight for this ala Rescue Dawn or The Machinist. He's not my favorite actor in the World hence the 'not bad'. Perhaps my over use of the ellipsis made this look like something it was not :p
