****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

How usable are the controls? I'm ready to drop massive £ on it but I need to know the controls are good!

The controls are ok, although the action buttons on the right hand side can be a little close together. It certainly isn't any worse than other games.

After 5 minutes, I've decided the controls are awesome :)

I like the controls, the only complaint about them I have is that instead of how on most games where you have an analogue stick that's in a permanent position, this one just disappears and reappears under your thumb on the left (when you take your finger off the screen, and then put it back on). So where as on another game you'd press on the screen to try and go right, it just brings up an analogue stick which is now centered on where you pressed.

I think this is something that you'll get used to after half hour or so, and you'll probably end up finding it easier than how other games work.

The buttons on the right I though were a little close when I originally saw them Mattey1, especially since handbrake is one of the smaller ones, but I find them fine tbh, handbrake is easy to use, for me atleast :).

The only thing I haven't tried yet is shooting, but I had a look at controls and I think I can work out how that works. There's a seperate aim button, it looks like you'll press this and it'll swap between targets, then you just press the shoot button once you've got the correct target selected (someone correct me if I'm wrong here, this is just me guessing :p). It looks like it should work well :).

Right someone help me please..!

I've searched & searched but I just can't find anywhere that specifically states how to debrand my SII.

The ruddy Orange bloat and some of the things they have done to Android is just plain stupid.

I've rooted and several Android phones before but for some reason flashing this phone worries me and I don't know why

Its got the below firmware on.

All you need to do to get rid of the Orange stuff is install an unbranded ROM. You do this via Odin, you have nothing to worry about really with flashing a ROM.

Saves from making a new thread...

The battery on my SGS2 normally runs down to 10% by the time I hit the hay, so I charge it every night. All of a sudden, the battery decided to quadruple itself. Monday morning was the last time the SGS2 left the charger and it still has 37% battery left. That's 3½ days and counting! I'm not using any battery saving apps, nor power saving and I keep my screen locked at 100% brightness using the brightness override in settings. I continue to surf the net, make calls, use the camera a lot and play chess against the computer. Any idea what's caused this, and has anyone else struck this great fortune with their SGS2?!

I lost 88% battery today, from 9am-2pm, and i wasnt even using my phone!

The inconsistent battery life is maddening! Some days, doing the usual thing as I'm at work and I've got over half left (poor signal at work makes it hunt all the time) but other days it's down at 10-20% before I'm even in the door from work!!!

Where's the best place to get a UK firmware from?

The xda forums are normally pretty good but for the S2 they are absolutely mind blowing and by the looks of reading some of the posts......its also full of elitist knobs.
