****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Flashed the kernel cleaning script and so far seems a lot better. Maybe this is what was giving me battery drain on newer kernels, higher than older ones anyway.

It is considering its running the latest rom, kernel and modem and the kind of usage I have given it for those hours of screen on time.

It also depends what you're doing when your screen is on. If you were at 50% after two hours of Game Dev Story, he'd be wishing he'd been born a woman so he could have your babies.

I've got this phone arriving tomorrow and it'll be my first every smart phone. I'm complete and utter noob as you can imagine so if anyone knows of any good guides for Android and S2 specifically i'd really appreciate it.

I've had a quick browse of the XDA forums but it'll all a bit baffling. I dont really know what ROM's, Launchers and Kernals are. Everyone seems to think Touchwiz is bad but again, i dont actually know what Touchwiz encompasses and what the alternatives are. I've had a play on an S2 already but i've no idea what bits are stock android and what bits are touchwiz and bloatware etc.

Basically, i've got a lot to learn.

Your first smartphone? Wow!

For starters, forget all about rooting, XDA and what have you. It isn't important right now and you won't gain anything much from it.

Just enjoy the phone as intended.

hmm with MIUI it seems like my S2 totally loses the signal once a week or so and only gets back to it after reboot? ideas?

I've actually bought a SGS2 second hand to play with (should have it today or tomorrow) and to see how I get on with it as my iPhone 4S is actually annoying me that much.
Signal on the 4S is all over the place and when you call people half it time it will fail on the first try or they won't be able to hear you and you can't hear them. When you ring back/try again it'll be perfect. And that's after restoring the phone several times. (screen size is starting to bug me too)

Went in to Carphone Warehouse and an O2 shop today.

My god the people in there are clueless. Was asking about the GS2 and the Sensation range. The technical specs they where telling me where wrong, so once I heard that I closed my ears and didnt listen to any other stuff they told me, becuase they where obviously clueless.

One guy was saying that the GS2, isnt as good as the sensaion range, due to its high fault rate..... maybe true, but maybe not.

Ignore what they tell you, they embarrass themselves. Clueless tossers.

that bit might actually be true Robbo, the Sensation is argubably the better built of the two, they see them being returned the store on a daily basis. We don't..

generally though they're sales people, so were probably just trying to sell whatever their manager told them to that morning.
