****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

It came this morning.

Its soft rubber which is good for grip but it is just too loose on the phone so moves when you hold. They should have made it a few millimeters tighter.

There isnt slots where the volume/power buttons but rather raised button molds, which are hard to use.

Is hard to recommend really, but I prefer it over my hard plastic bumper which makes the phone too bulky and slippery in the hand.

Thanks, sounds like a fake probably - unfortunately!

Anyway, has anyone used the official mess case with the extended battery?

I don't bother with a case, I use the android sock that I had for my desire when the phone is in my pocket\bag but that's all. When I first got the phone it felt terribly light and slim, but now I have gotten used to it other phones feel heavy and bulky in comparison.

Sorry for the change of topic, I've got a real noob question here. I just want to put my phone into download mode but how the hell do I do it? I read on the XDA forums that I press volume down, home and the power button at the same time but it isn't doing anything. Do I do this when the phone is powered off, powered on, plugged in with USB or unplugged?

By the way I did search, but looking for "download mode" gives 5 man sized pages to trawl through and I thought it would be easier to ask the simple question here and get a faster answer. Thanks, and don't laugh at me. :p

Download mode is volume down + home + power when the phone is off, keep it held until the screen appears then follow the onscreen instructions.

Thanks mate, I'm going to attempt to have a nice GUI by the end of the day. As you can see if I have problems holding down three buttons you can imagine what sort of problems I'm going to encounter... :p

My new S2 has 2.3.4, is it worth putting 2.3.6 on and rooting now or should I lwait for one of the ice cream sandwich updates?

Just took it to a "Samsung repair center" and they wanted £20 just to look at it.

I am just lost for words.

i hate miui. seems sooo laggy compared to checkrom or CM7

i cant feel any lag :| moving from checkrom to miui :o its a very customized system tho so i would expect some people to feel "lag" specially with the stock launcher which i dont like and run adw ex.. :D

Did you explain that it's still under manufacturers warranty?

Galaxy s2's aren't even 2 years old since they were first made, so I'm sure they know they're still under warranty.

They said they would have to book it in and look at it tomorrow. They indicated it was either a screen issue (lol?) or a software issue (more than likely) and claimed they would charge because they "have to take it apart" even though they originally stated it could be a software issue, so why they would state they needed to take it apart, I have no idea.

whats the point of warranty then if you get charged for it? might as well get fixed somewhere else.. :|

it's definitely not a screen issue or software issue, i wouldn't rule out the battery frying something internally tbh, not sure why james.miller thinks it must be a coincedence :/

Exactly, I told them I would just return it to amazon if that's the case. May contact Samsung directly and ask them why 1 of their repair centers is trying to charge me to look at the phone when it's under warranty.

Not sure really. I reset it myself and it still had the issue yesterday with the old battery in, I brought it home today after the repair center was attempting to charge me and wiped it again, but took my photos and everything with it this time and so far it's been fine, when it was freezing and stuff before it was doing so after about 5 minutes. I have no idea if it'll just **** up again in a day or 2, but if Amazon check it and there's no fault I'm sure they'd get suspect, since this would be the 3rd out of 3 that I've sent back, the first had dead pixels on the screen, the 2nd had dust behind the screen and some clouding issue on the screen and this, well, you can see above.
