What film did you watch last night?

I think you're doing people a discredit :)

I've not said they have to analyse it like 'an art project'. People do enjoy bad films, people enjoy good films. People rate films if they're good or bad.

*sigh*

Honestly, this is going round in circles. Continue to live with your head in the sand, I can't be bothered to continue to debate this circular argument with you.

It's only circular if you don't go and check the ratings on imdb.
As I said earlier ill rate what I enjoy, after all it's entertainment and there's only one true rating for entertainment and that's enjoyment.

And how is it a disservice, people rating what they enjoy.

No, people rate quality products :)

*sigh*

It is a circular argument.

The top 250 are good films.

Continue to argue with yourself from now one AcidHell :)

Rather than saying sigh and adding nothing, why don't you explain your point of view.

Under your criteria bad films will be rated badly, regardless of enjoyment. So how do all the enjoyable films that are known to be "bad" con air, Armageddon, air force one and a million and one others all get over 6/10. Under your criteria that just wouldnt happen.

Shock at people like good films and enjoying them. As I said top 250 doesn't prove anything. You need to look lower down. People rating on enjoyment or in an analytical way will both rate the top 250 films highly. The same cant be said for action, SCI-FI and horro genres in particular.

Do you think that annoys me? I've never hidden the name change.

I've explained my point of view Acidhell, you fail to comprehend it.

Air Force One, Con Air and Armageddon are all about 5/6 out of 10's imho. What's the problem? They're not terrible, they're not bad but they're nothing better then 'alright'.

I think there is a difference between enjoying a film and it being a good film or a bad film.

I think that reviews work a bit like this and a lot of the general public think like this if you talk films to them too.

Is that simple enough to understand?

I've pointed out previously too, that I extend this thinking in to other aspects of the visual media. (video games, theatre and television)

:)

So I have understood you all along, now try applying that to the ratings on imdb and it just doesn't work. Notoriously bad films are still highly rated. Use other examples of you don't think mine fit.

What makes a good and bad pc game? Got any examples. I don't now any games that are not risky bad that people still enjoy on mass scale. Like in the film industry.
