How about you explain for those who don't have 20 mins to watch a video?![]()
Quake isn't just "quick on the mouse" though, so I don't see your point.
You're implying that the only skill Quake requires is being "quick on the mouse"?
There's a lot more to it than that, more so than any other FPS, especially BF3.
edit: lol H2F Scott, great minds think alike?
I'd love more deathmatch fps games. More like Quake, skill based. Also realism does not equal fun. Surprised by the amount of people who want realistic fps games. CoD is not realistic but it also requires very little skill, making it boring very quickly to anyone who has even average fps skill.
Where as a game like Quake Live / 3, the skill cap is virtually endless, there are so many aspects to improve on, it's not even possible to master the game. Even the pros are improving still (after playing 12+ years of Quake 3/live)
More skill based. More like Quake, less like Battlefield.
No, I'm not implying that at all. No more than Scott implied that Battlefield was unskilled by saying that he wants games to be "more skill based like Quake 3, less like Battlefield[sic]", I'm sure.
But its fairly obvious that the main skill in games like Quake is your ability to outmanoeuvre and out-aim your opponent quickly and accurately. I'm not saying that's the only skill, just using that as an example. I should make it clear, I have nothing against players who enjoy such game. To each his own, I just look for something different in games.
Battlefield might have a different play style, and it might be easier to kill opponents but I hate the implication that because of this, the game somehow requires less "skill". That was kind of my point, not an attack on you.
EDIT: Just saw your other post after I typed that...
See? You jump on me the moment you think Im saying that Quake relies on mouse speed skills alone, yet you're happy to imply gamer's who play games different form Quake are unskilled? Hence, back to my original summation about there being more to skill than what you define.
Also: "realism does not equal fun" - in your opinion. Many people enjoy a more realistic gamestyle and find that fun themselves, who are you to say otherwise? Who are you to deride other players as less skilled, when in actual fact, there gamestyle they prefer just calls for a different set of skills?
Yes skill based, offtopic, but what is with that last weapon in Q4, the Napalm Launcher it seems a bit wimpy?
I'm not saying people who play Battlefield are unskilled lol. But can you tell me if Battlefield has a competitive scene? With leagues and tournaments?
I would like to see a return to the older styles, i.e CoD2.
What is "twitch gaming"? Fast paced?
Please educate yourself;
That looks awful. Im happy that online gaming isnt like this at the moment. The only things that stood out for me was, bunny hoping and running in circles.
I honestly don't know. I imagine it wouldn't have a 1vs1 ladder or anything, but clan leagues probably. Why, should that matter?
Slower pace. More realism. a MUCH heavier emphasis on teamwork. Mod support. Arma basically. Infact with ArmA3 I doubt ill ever look at another FPS game unless they make an ArmA4
More like Quake 3 / CS 1.6 / CSS.
Perks, Killstreaks have killed games cause people always find a way to glitch the game e.g you can use the damage weapon proficiency from a shotgun in MW3 and apply it to any other gun.
Take away XP aswell, pointless, doesn't make me want to keep playing the game, just bores the crap out of me waiting to unlock a certain gun.
Majority of people care about k/d these days and tbh it doesn't mean anything compared to win / loss.
I do dabble in MW3 and BF3 not going to lie, but I mainly play gears of war 3 now on the 360 and the odd mmo / rpg on the PC.
The last FPS I enjoyed was CoD4 it had its annoyances like martydom and I know it had XP etc but it wasn't the mess the other CoDs are these days.
