Took a Bus the other day for first time in about 20 years

Sheltered much? I'm guessing you don't hang around with 'commoners' a lot :p.

You should try taking a bus in China. Most of them aren't air-conditioned, and half the passengers are pickpockets. (pro-tip: make sure you know how to say 'please take your hand out of my bag sir' in Chinese).

The noise...The slowness of it....Stopping at every stop...The Kids swearing...The smell...The seats...The lack of control in my own destiny.

Worrying about some smelly person sitting next to me as I slowly watched the bus getting fuller and fuller.

I didnt have my headphones with me and couldnt get 3G on my S2 it was a living hell:eek:

sorry you had to mix with the low life scum on your way to work at..... must be tough working as an MP..

Worst thing about the Sheffield buses is the speedbumps, feels like you need a new spine every time you go over one.

I love using the tram around Sheffield though, especially when I can just put my headphones on, read my iPad or just watch the world go by.

Used to love getting the train from Chesterfield to Lincoln to visit the Mrs at Uni, sometimes it would be a 2 hour train ride where I could just listen to music, play on my PSP or stare out of the window

It costs me almost £3 to go 5 stops, this is why i cycle..

Your bus fair pays for all the old people who get on for free. Enjoy.

Crikey, are you sure you were actually in a bus or were you trippin'?

:D

This is one of the weird things I've found now that I'm in Hull; I miss getting the train here. Now, to be fair I don't miss having to get up at 6.50 to do it, but I liked just having 45 minutes of sitting looking out at the fields, listening to my iPod or whatever.

Love how Boris & Co are trying to convince everyone to use public transport, when its this bad, why would you sell your car in favour of getting a bus everywhere

Pros of a car
No waiting times, you don't have to stand out in the cold for 15-30 minutes to wait for a bus rammed full of chavs or school kids, then have nowhere to sit. You can have the temperature at whatever you like, play whatever music you like

Cons of a car
Expensive

Pros of a bus
Cheap compared to a car

Cons of a bus
Did I mention rammed full of chavs and school kids
Waiting times
Not being able to sit where you want
Not being able to open the window whenever you want

Thankfully although people are smelly the public transport here is good and cheap. I can put in my headphones while reading and ignore everyone :) It's better than having a car, sitting in traffic, having to drive in traffic and then either paying €250+/mo for a parking place or trying to find one every day in an old city that was never designed for cars, no thanks :)

Strangly enough...Not really

The underground is far more crowded but there is an element of interest and excitement about it.

Also I found when people watching...People who use busses are dull

People on the tube are interesting enough and there is more common decency ...I could imagine anyone tolerating kid swearing etc... on a tube.

In fact I have never seen it.

The buses aren't too bad in Norwich. Generally speaking the bus drivers are ok, and the people aren't tooo inbred (Shayper I'm looking at you).

Ha. I wasn't born in Norfolk you know!

The busses there are far too expensive. I can get all the way across London for £1.35, yet a 15 minute bus ride in Norwich costs £2.40. It's insane.
