****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Have a problem with dialling numbers. Will hit on the contact or number in the log, the phone freezes, will show the dialling pages 10 seconds later. Meaning it recognises that I asked it to make the call but takes a while to show the screen.

Anyone had this also?

Whats the latest on a working ICS rom? Last time i checked here you were all saying should have one before Christmas?

The rumour/going know has always been an official release by Q1 this year, so end of Feb onwards.

Right now LPB is the most official leaked ICS build out and almost everything works on it.

AOSP ICS (CM9) all depends on Team Hacksung and them acquiring Samsung sources. Won't happen until an official release.

I'm using a ICS as my daily rom at the moment and it's almost perfect, video recording not fully working and lockscreen seems not allow SMS popups there is an update coming today which I'm hoping fixes these things, very good otherwise.

Is ICS UI on the SGS2 radically differnt to the current official stock UI?

Nope not really touchwiz is touchwiz, maybe a few little touches here & there but on the whole still the same as touchwiz gingerbread in terms of look.

There are people trying to make it look as ASOP as they can by porting the ASOP apps into the Samsung ROM which to be honest is the best of both worlds.

I couldn't use CM9 for example as certain features won't work at all ever MHL being one.

So what will ICS bring to the SGS2 if it looks the same?

The SGS2 is a really nice phone, but I find the reception and call volume to be a bit flakey.

The primary goal of ICS was to bring together the gingerbread and honeycomb codebases in to one unified operating system. It was never about looks and to answer your question, probably not much in terms of new features. It may well fix a few thing ( standby usage is MUCH better for me than on any gb rom ive tried) and the initial releases may well break some things too. However, i think the latest lpb is a great rom and it will only get better.

I've had no real problems with reception on any rom. What rom are you using? Have you tried many?

Updated backend/framework/system/code I imagine not sure what has changed cause I'm still an android noob myself really, Some updated google apps too.

What kernel & modem are you using? Have you tried others? Can't say I have too many problems & if I do it just goes onto roaming with orange. This is with three I noticed this the other day when I couldn't get three signal.

just installed LPB, everything seems to work, thinking im getting better battery life  , this one is a keeper, no crashes whatsover

it's just a new transition effect. when moving between home screens they rotate backwards slightly. its nothing to get excited about really

so whats not working on it ?:D

I havent found anything. the first impressions thread over at xda says this:

• As always the first thing I did was checking if the phone calls were great or not, and as usual there is no problem. Earpiece, loudspeaker volume in call was great. NR is present as it was.
• No problem with Vibration intensity, it's as strong as in GB.
• Same incoming call UI, Answer/Reject sliders don't slide, now I am starting to believe that this is the way it is, well I will be very disappointed then, I don't like non slider Answer/Reject options, no one does I guess.
• 480x800 Wallpapers back on working on Stock TW launcher.
• Market is working fine, downloading works same as before.
• Face Unlock works
• FM Radio back and working again.
• Swype is same 3.26.92. The default KB is same QWERTZ as previous LP6.
• GPS locks is fine in GMaps. Yet to test hard GPS lock via GPS Status.
• Camera & Video Recording works, it always did.
• WiFi, Bluetooth works.. Sorry can't comment on Data/GPRS as the APN's were lost.
• Network Mode option is BACK and you can alter between networks(2G/Auto) as before.
• 1080P FLV Video played very smoothly with Stock Video player.
• 1080P YouTube videos played smoothly as well.
• Same Stock Email UI, I love it. Gray background is nice.
• Deep Sleep does work.
• Connection with PC worked as usual.
• Stock browser is great, smooth and all positive. I like it more than my gf now (Hope she ain't reading this)
• [NEW]The WiFi icon on status bar has a green/orange upload/download notification as well, same like in H+/3G, nice.
• [NEW]The update/download notification of apps are now have a big white icon in status bar.
• Same annoying and weird ICS lockscreen animation.
• Haptic feedback does work. Make sure you've enabled 'Vibrate on touch' option under /Settings/System. The touch lights do glow as well.
• New 3D sorta view in TW launcher, yes when you're switching between home screens you'll notice it but the loop feature is disabled both in home screen and app drawer, which is a big drawback for the TW users I am sure, I don't bother it as I am a Go Launcher user.
• The overscroll glow color is changed from Sky blue to GB Blue and the effect is very minimum than before.
• Settings icon is changed as it is/was in GB, don't know why am I even mentioning it.
• The touch response and smoothness of the ROM is pretty good so far. No hang or FC yet, however device did reboot once in this period of an hour.

if anybody wants to try it, remember you probably will have to re-enter your APN settings, so either make a note of your current settings or grab them of your operator's website
