****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Got my extended battery yesterday and I went from 5.30am to 6pm been flat to still having 50% battery at 9pm. I should have got this months and months ago. The phone is nicer to hold and feels a nicer weight. I then managed to drop it in a tarmac carpark which it landed face down chipping and putting a crack in the screen. Still works but will claim on insurance.

For anyone considering it I would highly recommend it.

Im actually starting fall in love with this phone, its been rooted and had a stock unbranded rom put on and the battery is easily good for a day, and thats with a good hour of calls over BT, and mucking around over wifi too.

I wish i hadnt bothered ordering the extended battery now, as it means im going to need a new case, what have people used? the mesh case wont fit, ive currently got a rubbish £3 ebay special.

Gah, should never have gone to ICS as now I can't go back... CM9 is still buggy though - we need sources!

Anyone using MIUI on this handset? I liked it on SGS but it wasn't great for battery life and camera. What is your experience? I'm tempted to try it out and see if it's OK for daily until ICS is about.

The latest leak is fairly bug free (XXLPB), I'd say it's probably better than CM9 at the moment.

As for MIUI, I have a mixed opinion. It's certainly fast and battery life is great, but on nearly every build I've used I get constant lock ups when using the camera/video :p

Looks like I ought to try LPB then. Thanks for the heads up!

What builds are you using, stock? There seem to be a lot of ROMs based on it. Ideally it would be something that keeps functionality but removes bloat (and TouchWiz!).

Each time I look at a ROM I find myself coming back to CM9....

There is a ROM for the SGS (GT-i9000) that is close to pure AOSP ICS and it's great (here). Only issue is that it's a bit slow sometimes, but I think that is just the single core lag factor (I'm used to the SGSII!). I wish there was something like this for the SGSII but I think the closest is CM9 and we won't do any better until Samsung release their sources, or a stable ICS ROM that can be picked apart.
