Pakistan v England Test Series *** Spoilers ***

That was one wicket both Pakistan and England fans would have been cheering. Bring on someone who can hit the ball now please.

That should be game, set and match.

Middle order really flopped, Akmal or Afridi just needed to stay in until around now. It's too much to ask for from the bowlers.

LOLAfridi...got some big hits then promptly loses his wicket, typical of him as usual...cant see Paks chasing down this total in all honesty...another win for England as usual with Cook leading the way with a century again.

Makes me wonder why Eng were so utterly inept in the test matches...our bowling line up hasnt changed much but yet not Eng are playing much better...

Because in the ODI's you have a limit on the amount of overs that each bowler can bowl(10) therefore you can't have Ajmal and Rehman bowling 80-90% of all the overs..

Gul is good but we can usually handle seam bowling, it is spin bowling we find completely unplayable..

Although I strongly dislike Bopara, you have to wonder, if he was in the test team would any of the results been different? He is in good form(Much better than Bell, Pietersen and Morgan) and seems to handle the spinners well..

LOLPakistan...yet again showing how stupidly ****ed we are when chasing....Akmal and Afridi need to learn how to keep their wickets and not try and hit every freaking ball out of the ground.

Congrats to England...yet again Cook leading from the front with his century.

England 2 nil up in a 4 match series, not a bad position to be in. Pakistan really let down by some stupid shot selection, at the 35 over point we were well on the way.

Hopefully we will win the next 2 to tie the series :P but England looking the better side overall, in particular A. Cook.

Wheres abdul Razzaq nowadays, surely he'd be a better player than bleedin Cheema, good bowler at the death and can swing the bat a fair old bit. That wasnt a bad performance by the pakistani's, had they had some of the 'cheats' well just aamir, they would have a stronger tail and a decent seam attack.

Wtf this is all backwards, we're supposed to win the Test series then be lame at the ODIs not the other way round :p

England may not be very good at ODI's but one advantage we have is that most of our bowlers can bat very well, our tail starts at number 10(Anderson) whereas most other nations have a tail starting around 8 or 9.

Would love to see Buttler and Bresnan in the team instead of Pietersen and Anderson. We would then have 10 batsmen and would help us tremendously in run chases.

Steven Finn! I once said here he would never be a great bowler and was over rated.

Time to eat that pie .. What a bowling machine in the sub continent

England wins by 20 runs to lead the series 2-0. That'll be a welcome relief after the Tests.

Really great comeback, well done Poms.

:)

They've got some good foundations for a v good side in the future. I think they've got the best all-round bowling attack in ODIs, it's just the batting obviously. Morgan's going through a bad patch but he's still a class act, Buttler will be one for the future. Cook's batting on another level.

I think they just need to move on from KP - I know he should be great in ODIs, he's still a v good test batsman and about the best T20I batsman around, but his ODI record over the past 5 years is AWFUL.

I still think Bell needs to be given a proper go at the top of the order. He's only played in the top 3 for 3 innings in the last 2 years (if we think about the time since he was recalled to the England side), they played him down the order in the summer which was just ridiculous.

Interesting to see the Bell debate reemerging, he does very little when he is in the ODI team, yet when he isn't in it people seem to think he was brilliant. In 2011, Bell averaged 28.6 in ODI's whereas Pietersen averaged 31.7. So despite Pietersen having awful form, he is still outscoring Ian Bell in one-day'ers...

I think now is the perfect time to get rid of the "old" middle order and bring in new, younger faces to take us towards the next world cup. I think Morgan, Pietersen and Bell all need to sit out for most of the English summer, get some form for their counties and then try and earn their places in the side. If they are as good as we/they believe, then they will get back in the team, if not then the younger players keep their places. Win win for everybody.

I thought exactly the same, I remember posting on these forums that he only got wickets because his bowling was so bad! He is very like Stuart Broad at the start of his career, hopefully he doesn't spend the next few years bowling half track ***** like Broad did! The only problem for Finn is that there are several more experienced bowlers who should be coming back from injury soon(Tremlett and Bresnan) which means he is unlikely to get a place in the test tea to aid his development..
